Happy with my purchase
This pencil sharpener is amazing. Someone at school told me that this type of sharpener was very expensive, around $300, so I never even looked into buying one. After struggling with regular sharpeners and watching my students use small manual ones, I decided to see if I could find something smaller and more affordable. I checked Amazon and was surprised by how much cheaper it was than I expected. I ordered it, set it up in my classroom, and it has been a great experience. My students even told me it was time for me to upgrade! The quality is excellent— in just two seconds, the pencil is perfectly sharpened. I no longer spend half an hour sharpening 40 pencils for my class. It also has four sturdy rubber grips on the bottom, so it stays in place and doesn’t move while sharpening. I’m very happy with this purchase.

A great buy for homeschool families
This was a great addition for our home school area. It sharpens easily, works well, is easy to clean, and the grips on the bottom hold it in place. I feel comfortable allowing my children to use it. My only con is that the tray that holds the shavings seems to jostle and pop out easily, and it will not sharpen unless the tray is inserted fully. It’s a great safety feature, but can get annoying when you have to push it back in constantly.

Great for colored and graphite pencils
I got this because I received a Prismacolor 150 pencil set and my hands were killing me from sharpening so many pencils. I love it! I sharpened all 150 pencils of the set plus a set of 36 Prismacolor premiers and only 3 pencils broke while sharpening. One pencil I think is bad and caused the next one to break. I also sharpened my Caran D'Ache Supracolor, Blackwing colors, Prismacolor watercolor pencils, Derwent Inktense pencils, some Faber-Castell Goldfaber. I am so impressed by it. All have a great sharp point, don't break ( except for the 3 mentioned) and don't eat up much of the pencil. I also tried with graphite pencils and they work great. The key is to find the right hole for the pencil and to let it finish before taking it out. The drawer does dislodge easily so I just hold it with one hand while holding the pencil with the other. I also use a soft brush to clean the gears to be sure it will be good for a long time. Hopefully it'll last a long time but so far I'm very impressed with the results.

A dream for artists - can do colored, pastel, even charcoal pencils - WITH precautions
This sharpener has been a total game changer for me because not only can it sharpen my colored pencils, it even sharpens my pastel and charcoal pencils (!!) WITH a bit of care. I've tried everything from sharpening these by hand with an x-acto knife to a million different manual sharpeners (including that crazy $100 hovel - UGH), and nothing sharpens them anywhere nearly as easily and consistently well as this. *** NOTE: This review is specifically about using this sharpener with artist pencils, which, in fairness, the sharpener does not claim to work on (but then, what sharpener does??). *** The biggest thing is to be gentle. Try to make sure you get the pencil in the appropriate sized hole so that it goes in as straight/centered as possible. And then - most importantly - never push/apply any pressure while it's sharpening (which is sort of a natural/automatic response to do without even realizing it when you can hear that it's not sharpening as well as you'd like). If you apply pressure - especially with a pastel, charcoal pencil, or an extra thick pencil - the tip is very likely to break off. And when this happens, it's very likely to clog the sharpener and render it completely unusable (UGH). That is, the sharpener still runs and seems to be working, but it's not actually making a dent in any pencil you put in - which can make you feel like you're losing your mind. PLUS you've just lost a big chunk of an expensive pencil! This happens about once/month to me, and when it has in the past, I've been able to unclog it - but only after getting out a screwdriver to disassemble the sharpener (obviously after unplugging it!) and inserting a paper clip in and out and in and out and spinning the little internal sharpening mechanism by hand - trying to find and unclog the sharpener. It's slow and tedious and you can't really tell when it's fixed except re-assembling it, plugging it back in, and trying again. This time (about the 6th time it's happened) I've only been able to get it back to partially but barely working. I'm not sure if I haven't been able to get it completely unclogged (it's deceptively difficult to tell if it's clogged or not!) or maybe I've just knocked it out of alignment from all the mucking around. So... I'm buying 2 more (so that I have a 2nd on hand for when it clogs again while I'm creating art so that I don't have to stop in the middle of it!). It's cheap enough (relative to the cost of artist grade materials) that I've just accepted that it's worth it to me if I have to buy a new one every few months. Or, maybe I'll eventually get better and stop clogging it (or get better at unclogging it quickly?!). Anyway - this might not sound like it, but I do seriously recommend it for artists who work with different types of pencils as even with all of the hassle, it's still way better than any alternatives I've found! Just... maybe get 2 of them if you can afford it.

awesome for high use
This is quite possibly the best pencil sharpener EVER! I work in the children's room of a public library, so our sharpener gets constant use. We bought a different sharpener this summer and it lasted only a matter of months under the intense usage it gets. It was also weaker and shriller, so it made me cringe every time a kid used it. This sharpens quickly, with much less noise, and gives a perfect point every time. So glad I read the teacher reviews and went for it!

I purchase this and found that it did not sharpen as well as my previous model. It sharpened unevenly and broke down in May.

Not suitable for use in the UK. Exploded on first use. Bit of a nightmare to return - got billed £50 for returning to USA. All got sorted out in the end, but would not recommend.

It’s not suitable for the UK electricity network : it burned out as soon as we plugged it into socket. But Amazon refunded us without any problem.

La verdad vale mucho la pena, te deka las puntas muy bien afiladas, no hace tanto ruido, y tiene diferentes opciones de lápices y colores. Muy bueno
