I'm using this with my elementary technology students next year for sure!I love how the book presents coding in easy to understand building blocks, perfect for the youngest coders. I also love the mix of offline, hands on and digital activities to reinforce concepts. The built in sticker reward system not only helps kids track their progress but gives them a sense of accomplishment.

This is an amazing introductory book for children into the world of coding. It covers the core concepts in a fun, colorful, and interactive way, evening providing some tangible design elements along the way. The book does a great job of not pushing the reader directly in to coding, but explains some fundamental concepts first, and then introduces the reader to Scratch, which is a simplified "drag and drop" programming language. Scratch is a wonderful tool to help people understand the logical flow of programming, and provides the user with a toolbox that is easy to understand. Finally the book introduces HTML and some basic introduction to CSS attributes in a concise and easy to understand way.I think ultimately this book targets kids between 8 and 15, but I feel that if your child is a confident reader they could probably pick this up and run with it.

Fun and easy to follow introduction to coding for ages 8-9 & up! In the first chapters, readers learn what coding is, and read about several different coding languages and what they are commonly used for. Then readers are walked through "coding challenges" that help them learn various coding and web-design concepts. The book also comes with sticker badges and certificates that kids earn for completing each challenge, punch out board games, and unplugged activities for a fun, hands-on and motivating introduction to programming!

I got this book for both my 8 year-old and 12 year-old sons. They both enjoyed working with it for different reasons. My 12-yo son who already has a good knowledge of coding finds it amazing, he learnt much more things like creating characters and animating them. My youngest was very motivated by the challenges and graduation certificates. There’s even a board game kit! So much fun and full of creative ideas. Totally recommend it for beginners and intermediate.

Excellent book and a great way to introduce kids to coding. My 2nd grade son says "I'm a Coder!" The instructions are great and easy to follow.

A little bit more difficult than expected but overall well written with some good ideas. We have tried the animation part so far.
