A Well Built Hand Tool
This is a very well designed and built tool. It is made of sturdy steel. The blades are sharp and are set down from the handles for ease of use. The handles are coated with plastic which is textured for a firm grip. I look forward to using them when summer rolls around.

Old School Grass Clippers
We bought two different grass clippers for more money, tried them and returned them. This pair is made of heavy material, blades are very sharp and cuts great. So much better than expected.

Fearsomely sharp clippers.
I have used these scissors now for about 2 months. These are excellent for trimming grass around difficult stone edging. Easy to maneuver and very sharp, almost scary sharp. That's because they are made from high carbon steel, which holds an edge very well. The high carbon steel is also why they tend to tarnish and show rust easily. The workaround is simple, get a can of WD40 and spritz them after every use. The latch that keeps the scissors closed seems to be an afterthought and they do sometimes lock themselves while using, but that is a minor annoyance and for me not a make or break issue. These are made in Vietnam. Yes, I would buy these scissors again. They seem to be very sturdy and I think that will not be for a long while.

you just never kno
i took a chance on these. and i am glad i did!! they are strong! built to last, great price too. but i must tell you, these are what tools should be made like. . .. tough! no whimpy plastic, solid steel and sharp!! did i tell you they were sharp! cause they are!! they can be used in a two handed way. but i use one hand, a bit to get use to. but being sharp helps. and they want to slip from your hand. i wish they had a nub like on the end to keep that from happening. but i like 'em got on time too. . thanks

Made for large hands; angle is awkward if cutting horizontally; providing some measurements
The quality seems very good. These are made for large hands. If you have hands larger than mine, say the span with small finger and thumb open as if grasping the shears and your hand is 7.5 inches then these may work well for you. My hand grasp distance is about 6 inches and when I grasp the shears the tip is open by only 1 inch. Sitting on the table the opening is only about 2 inches to start with. The handle when open is about 5.25 inches outside dimension where you want to grasp the handle and have cutting leverage. I have to use it near the hinge point. If I try to hold these shears where you are supposed, to I have to try to hold it with my thumb curled and my little finger barely on the other handle -- not feasible for me. Also, cutting grass horizontally is awkward because your hand has to bend up to make the shear horizontal. Contrast that with my old shears with red on it in the photos. The handle distance is a couple inches and they cut horizontally very easily. You hold it as if shaking hands. 45 Degree angle cuts are easy also but making a 90 degree cut gets into an awkward hand angle but I seldom wanted to do that for the area I was cutting. (My old shear top spring broke after 23 years of occasional use and I couldn't put the remaining spring back on and get the nut on. I'll try again after purchasing a tool to compress the spring.) I think the new shear I bought has a spring you can easily replace, in 23 years. If you like this style then I would give it 5 stars as I think the quality is good. But for small hands I have to give it only 3 stars because you won't be able to use it easily.

Horizontal handles
I purchased these since the handles are horizontal (like scissors) vs vertical where part of the energy is wasted to convert the direction of the blades. Note also that the handles are offset up to allow room for hand above cutting level with no negative effect. Also I have NOT personally experienced any issues with latching.

barely work after a week. You need 2 free hands to use these, not meant for womens hands.
At first I thought that I finally found a pair of grass clippers that would last more than a day. They did, they lasted a few more days, about a weeks work. They are a bit hard to handle they are meant for larger, longer hands they didn't work well for my long fingers though, the grip is too wide when it is open, need to use both hands. they barely work, not sharp enough after using for a week! Why can't a pair of well made anything be made anymore?

Great hard-to-find grass clippers
I like the horizontal handles instead of vertical handles I found in the local hardware store. Clippers work great for trimming when I trim my lawn after the gardeners leave.
