Great little welder powerful enough to do most diy welding easy to use light and compact at a give away price

I’ve never welded before and figured this welder was so cheap I’d buy it and give it a try. Watched a few YouTube videos and off I went. I wouldn’t say I’d get a job as a pro welder anytime soon, but with a couple of weekends practice I can fillet weld bits of steel together reliably and join box section. Very useful skill to have. I’d recommend buying decent rods, I’m using ESAB 6013 and 6011. The welder also reads slightly low, when it says 140amp on the display it’s an actually outputting about 120amps on my clamp meter. I’d recommend this machine to a beginner.

The first thing I did when I received the welder was check out the fuse in the plug as other reviews have noted it is an issue. This one had a fuse that said it was a BS1362 30 amp which doesn’t actually exist so is fake . 1362 fuses only go up to 13 amp . I simply replaced it with a real 13 amp fuse , this is the only reason I didn’t give it full five stars . I imagine if you are using high amps for long periods you could blow the fuse unless you changed the plug and used an industrial plug socket arrangement for this purpose. A very capable little inverter welder for the cost and perfect for transporting around. The leads are an ok length and are in a tough rubber. I have run half a dozen 2.5mm rods when I wrote this review and it was easy enough to get a consistent arc going once struck . The fuse didn’t blow nor did the welder overheat. I noticed it has a 40% duty cycle on its high output = 4 minutes welding in every 10 minutes on high power. A good thing for hobbyists and those who use a welder for jobbing repairs and smaller projects.

I use for small welds like fusing wheelbarrows and tools. The instructions are ok to follow, but not well translated. The kit works well. You will need some kind of mask and/or dark goggles to see what you are doing and protect from sparks. There are cheap welding glasses on Amazon which are fine for £7. Plus you need to buy the welding rods themselves. Just be very careful and take your time.

Cheap and cheerful garage diy welder. If you don't ask too much of this machine it will do the job. Does struggle with 3.2 rods and welding10mm plate really is the limit for decent welds unless doing many multiple runs is your thing. But for thinner guage stuff its an adequate little welder.

Great little Wilder, all the reviews I’ve seen on YouTube look great 👍 check the plug! Mine came with a 30 amp fuse installed so please if you’re in the UK replace your fuse with a 13 amp! 🤔other than that the only other thing I’m going to change is the negative lamp for a more robust one with a copper strap as the one supplied is a bit rubbish. I shall be using this more than likely mobile as it’s lighter than my other unit. Enjoy happy welding 🫣 remember to use an approved mask and gloves and some breathing equipment if you’re welding in a low or poor ventilated area.
