Melissa & Doug Pirate Puppet with Detachable Wooden Rod (Frustration-Free Packaging)

My husband and I had seen these beautifully crafted puppets in our local specialty toy store and fell in love with them. They were kind of pricey, so we checked Amazon and were amazed at the low prices.We bought this pirate and the kids have so much fun playing with it. Of course, it is fun to use a pirate voice and the puppet is well crafted so that when you move its mouth and hands, it makes some really fun expressions. There is a stick attached to one of the hands so that you can do hand/arm movements as well.These are similar to the puppets I have seen in professional puppet shows. I am well pleased with the quality.

I've purchased, I think, eight or nine of these puppets for my autistic son, plus their kit for making his own puppet. For the first two or three that we received I truly had the thought, "Man, we must have gotten lucky and the person making this one was having a good day!" but have now come to see that every puppet is is made on a good day.They look really cool, are the perfect size, are made really well. I'm one of those people that believes that you get what you pay for so am still a little queasy when paying so little, but in this case you just simply get much more than you pay for. I swear that that's true.I think it's important to try and put honest pros and cons in the reviews, but despite trying really hard I can't come up with any cons. They are packaged well, shipped quickly, beautiful, high quality products...man, I can't really find anything to criticize.I feel really good every time I give them my money and I can't imagine ordering from another company that might compete with Melissa and Doug's on anything comparable.(Edit: Any time I read such a one sided review I assume that it was probably written by someone from the company selling the product. I'm not associated with this company in any way beyond being a happy customer. Honest.)Dwayne

My husband and I bought five of these puppets for our two grandchildren (brother and sister) for Christmas.First let me say that when they arrived, my husband and I were amazed at the fine quality and craftsmanship of these puppets....and at such an affordable price! Needless to say, before wrapping them the kid in us came out and we had fun playing with them. On Christmas day, the whole family enjoyed playing and impersonating with the puppets and also commented on the fine quality. We also bought them the puppet theater to enhance their imagination and fun. Great gift and nice change from all the electronic toys!

Iam a student photographer and purchased a BUNCH of these Puppets Made "By Melissa & Doug", They are Great Quality Puppet's and will be Great to Get Kids to SMILE for My CAMERA!!! I look forward to using these and Really Had FUN Playing with them when I took them Out Of Their Moving(Shipping) BOX,lol. On this one it came to me with a defect in the Pirate Hat and I called the Company "Melissa & Doug", (info on the Tag attached to Puppet) their Customer service staff was really Friendly and wanted to make things right. I was a buyer for Relax the Back Stores & Other Retail, Did Merchandising and was in Upper Management and the customer service rep was happy to take down my feedback on all of the Puppets I received. I've never been disappointed by Melissa & Doug! This puppet is fun, and very well made. I got it for my son when he was 3 so he had a little trouble at first learning how to use the mouth. We removed the stick from the hand until he's able to manoeuvre it better. He is 4 now and still plays with it, and nothing as come apart or fallen off. I think it will last many more years. It seems to be best suited for ages 6+ probably bc they'll be able to do the movements with the mouth and stick. My son is not quite that coordinated yet, but still has fun with Bart!

My grandson is having a pirate birthday party. I bought it as a gift. It was a big hit; all the children played with it. A little hard for younger children to operate because it is large (but they loved it). It came with a stick (think it was suppose to be a sword or club) but we took it off because it wasn't appropriate for 4 year olds. It is extremely durable and fun.

It's a bit smaller than I thought it was going to be ... but for the price, it's awesome! Solid detail, it looks like something you'd be able to use on tv. My son gets a kick out of it and loves the pirate voice ... it's put up with some rough play for the past couple of months, so I'm confident that the quality will continue to be there. I would recommend this, it's pretty fun.

I have bought several items from Melissa and Doug and am never disappointed in the quality great value for money!Bought the puppets for my 2&1/2 year old girl and she loves them. Great for role play and imagination, hopefully she will play with them for a long time to come. I recommend for children of all ages.So impressed I bought them for friends children as well.
