PEC Guitar Amp Potentiometer, 1 Meg Audio

To use this, you will need knobs with a steel setscrew. Knobs with a brass setscrew will have problems with this steel shaft. See that the setscrew is pointed or cupped on the end instead of flat? A flat setscrew won't grab the steel shaft of this pot.I wound up ordering "original Fender knobs" because these have a cupped steel setscrew, which will work with this control. Max length- from the body of the pot to the end of the shaft.Hardware provided: 1 lock washer + nutThis information is the first thing I wanted to know, and I wish the vendors would provide it.That aside, I am using these controls to retrofit a Sovtek MIG 50 amplifier. The controls are very well constructed and the rearcover is non-ferrous metal. The shaft and bushing are mildly magnetically attracted, (may or may not be) some grade of stainless steel.The solder terminals are gold plated. The hardware itself is very solid, a higher grade than typical consumer grade, and reminds me of militaryor industrial specification.If you are mounting this in a guitar, better check the thickness of the guitar first, you may need a longer reach pot. I think PEC does have a longer one available.If you are mounting this in an amplifier, check to be sure there is space for the 1.115 inch body diameter.I would rather use this type of heavy hardware rather than a consumer grade control, especially for a guitar or amplifier,because of the rough usage. I like the solid construction better.

These are among the most precise potentiometers around. Aside from the usual caveats regarding size - please note that the backs of these pots are stainless and you will have to use rosin to solder to them. I used these for the first time in a AB763 variant and am very, very pleased with them. I'll never go back to using CTS or Alpha pots again.4/5 - 5/5 if I could solder to them convenitonally and if they made push-pull switching available to the low quantity consumer.
