Kitchy Wine Bottle Opener Set with Corkscrew Stand, Foil Cutter and Spiral Worm

With not so many reviews on many of the lever-style wine openers available I decided to give this one a try based on the handful of positive reviews. The wine opener comes in a nice box, with two corkscrew heads and a foil cutter, all on a stand. The foil cutter is nice. I knew from the other reviews that some folks didn't watch the instructions and had issues, so I watched the video and it went well for the first several bottles but then, the wine opener started pushing the corks into the bottles. It turned out that the end of the corkscrew had broken the end off and could have been the reason for some of the corks going in. I changed the corkscrew which wasn't exactly easy and two bottles later, my entire kitchen got covered in a nice bottle of red wine when the cork was pushed into the bottle but this time, the corkscrew was still intact. Seriously, the wine sprayed across the stove, the cabinets, the trash can, more cabinets and worst of all, the ceiling which now needs to be repainted. Instead of relaxing with a nice glass of wine, I had to clean the kitchen.

I have been using this type of corkscrew for many years and recommend it for effectiveness. Regardless of the brand, they all seem to eventually break at the same place and then the screw portion simply spins around and will no longer enter the cork. In the case of this brand, I used it for 2 years and 2 months and it just broke yesterday. I will try a new version with a "lifetime guarantee" and see if that lasts any longer.

When these guys work they're great but mine broke after a year. It just shot out the spring and it was pretty much impossible to repair. Its the third is a series of three that have broken. They're not well made. I'm not buying replacements any more. I'm switching to a simpler mechanism. If you don't drink much wine this may work for you.

Worked fine (moderate use) for a year, then broke the screw on a normal plastic cork (Barefoot wine, not something out of the ordinary). Fortunately, I had also bought a small hand corkscrew as a backup, turns out it was the better value.The engineers on this product should be exiled.

This item broke after using it only a few times. Very disappointed. I read many reviews online about this happening and thought I would be lucky. I have tried a few different brands of this product and they always break.

Terrible. Extremely hard to use. Normally these make opening wine a breeze. Not this one.

It didn't have the solid feel that I had expected, just seemed like a lower end wine opener. I have no idea how it worked, as it was missing a part when it arrived.
