Yes, it can fit adults, just don't try to loop it through your belt loops. Just strap it around your waist.

Q: can the belt be added to to make it bigger or smaller an can i add more accessorys to the belt like pouches

I bought two belts and combined due to my waist size. Each link is about 1 inch wide each component clips off and on. In my case I combined the gadgets and extra links to make my belt fit. The one thing I took off was the Velcro extension which makes the belt tricker to get on and off as you have to clip off a link and click on a link which is not easy with the mask on or trying to look down off the muscly shirt so you have to do it by feel. It really made the costume look great though having one solid belt all around.
