It is GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe) listed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is included in the FDA Inactive Ingredients Guide.

Q: Have any of you had your product smell bad? I’ve used this product for years but the last batch smells like fish

You can try to take the cap off and leave the bottle out for about an hour and that may help with the odor. Q: Are the 400 MG softgels the color red? If not, what color are they?

I am not familiar with the 400 MG magnesium product. I purchased the 500 MG magnesium product. The ones I purchased are white, they are NOT softgels, they are a hard oblong shaped tablet.
