Final Fantasy VIII Remastered (PS4)

I bought the original FFVIII on PS2 25 years ago. I played it for a while then for reasons I can't remember, I stopped playing it and have graduated to a PS4. I didn't know this game was available on PS4 until recently, and it was not that expensive so I decided to pick it up. The graphics look dated tbh and the gameplay is a bit clunky compared to modern games, but what this does offer is the incredible journey of a young mercenary, Squall, and his friends (and his love interest) as they fight to protect their world from evil forces. Fantastic story with characters that you come to love. And nostalgic value too! Highly recommended.

The most underrated final fantasy. Now in a less pixilated format.

Perfect and exactly as described!

A remaster of a PS1 classic, very glad there is a physical copy for this game! The character models and graphics for the game have been updated, but the core gameplay andusoc have remained the same (which I'm glad about!) There are active "cheats" in the game which help speed things along as sometimes these older games can drag on. You can turn off random encounter, speed up the game (x3 I think?) and have unlimited health/limit break to make battles easier. However I'm just glad to be able to replay this game on current gen consoles.

Love the Final Fantasy Series and this game is just one of the classics that are timeless. The slightly revamped graphics, you are able to step into the world of the Gardens again and journey with Squall in this adventure. Purchased the digital copy but wanted a physical copy in case something ever happened to the console or hard drive.

Really like FFVIII so bought this originally for the Switch and this time for my Square Enix collection. I have no idea how many copies of VIII I’ve bought over the years. I feel mean giving it only four stars, I mean, this game gave the world Triple Triad if nothing else and back in the day if rating the original I would have given it a five. But as an HD release I just don’t think Squeenix put enough love into the project. I’ll give a big FIVE if they give it the same love as the recent VII Remake. It’s obviously a game with far less canonical lore than VII so should only need one release. C’mon Squeenix. Ya know ya want to! ;)

This is one of the best in the series. FFVIII has cool characters and excellent CG FMV movies. The new remaster improves the graphics and character models a bit but the core game play remains. There are some nifty options to make your experience a bit smoother like full magic which means you don't have to spend your time drawing magic more than once or worrying about using your stock. However, the main reason to play this is the characters and story. This is classic Final Fantasy with proper turn based battles and CG cutscenes.

everyone adores final fantasy 7 but for me the love story and the characters in final fantasy 8 were much better, if you haven't played ff8 before this remaster is really for you
