Quick to boil, great to pour, reasonably quiet and solidly built
I very recently purchased a similarly styled Philips kettle that I felt, after a few tests, was unreasonably slow to boil and a little noisy so exchanged it for this model at just a few pounds more. I'm pleased I did. This Bosch not only looks a little more purposeful with its less curvy profile but with its 3000w power it boils a 1.7L max load a full two and a half minutes quicker than the Philips and was noticeably quieter and quicker to cut-off when reaching a boil too. It will boil 0.5L (e.g. two normal mugs) from cold to cut-off in an average 1 minute 25 seconds which I can easily tolerate.Other points of note:As other reviews have mentioned the lid pops up to almost exactly 60 degrees (by design I believe) but can be easily pulled open to its full 90 degrees even when the kettle is hot. I didn't find it a problem filling with the lid popped at 60 and didn't need to tilt it much past vertical but whether this affects you will probably depend on your taps. The pour is amazingly smooth and drip free however much water is in the kettle. The charging base feels a little lightweight but the rubber feet grip well on smooth surfaces so the base doesn't move around when placing the kettle on it.The flex is 70cm from edge of base to the bottom of the moulded plug and, whilst initially quite stiff from being wrapped around the base whilst packaged, it is already losing its kinks. As with most kettles with a fill guage behind the handle it's less convenient to see than a side mounted fill guage (when filling) but, when it's on the base, it's fairly easy to spot whether there's enough water in the kettle for a re-boil without the need to pick it up. Realistically I barely use the fill guage anyway so this makes little difference to me and having it "hidden" behind the handle makes for a visually sleeker look than on display on the side of the kettle. This kettle is available in a "plus" version that does have a side mounted fill guage for a few extra pounds but I didn't think the extra was worth it.I followed the setup instructions by boiling with a tbsp of vinegar and then boiling clean and fully rinsing afterwards but there was still initially a feint metallic tange of "new electronics". This went away after a few further boils.Amazon exchange process was quick and easy.

A kettle that pours perfectly
I bought this kettle when our previous one started leaking. We use the kettle a lot -- it's an essential item in our kitchen. There are two reasons why this is the best kettle I have ever used. First -- it pours better than any full-size kettle. There are no drips or dribbles and the flow can be as fast or as slow as you like. (It will even pour as gently as a specialised pouring kettle.)Secondly, it is designed in such a way that there is almost no risk of scalding in normal use. Too many kettles place the handle in the way of steam when pouring. This does not. I would therefore strongly recommend it for older folk or anyone else who might be a scalding risk. The kettle is one of the larger ones in its category (a full 1.7 litres), and it boils well. I would prefer to have measuring marks inside the kettle as well as the external window, especially as the window is a bit obscured by the handle. These are minor concerns, and should not stop you buying this great kettle.

Smart and very efficient
Bought to replace a Shark which the less said about the better .This is a quality kettle not overly loud looks good and a beautiful design without a doubt .Top quality and it looks and feels it and have aLot of.confidence in my choice this time and it’s a great priceOne starReduce because of the weight of it , it’s quite heavy when filled .Anyone with who suffers with mobility issues in the wrists or hands may find this a problem .No leaking from either the lid or spout in fact the spout is designed not to leak and a very impressive feature which I have never come across before .Very pleased overall with this kettle

Literally, the PERFECT kettle
Here I am, waxing lyrical about a kettle of all things. But, given the amount of use it gets in my home, a kettle is a real workhorse and deserves to be chosen with that in mind. And, boy, have I had some rubbish kettles in my50 years of adult life. Its footprint on the countertop is small (great for anyone who doesn't have an enormous kitchen), and it looks good. Importantly, the pour is actually DIVINE - precise, accurate, no dribbles - really well designed. Easy to hold. Not very noisy at all, in fact, I'd rate it as pretty quiet. It says Bosch on the front, reminding me that I decided to pay for quality :DMy only teeny tiny complaint is that the lid doesn't spring open fully, it requires a tiny push to go the extra couple of centimetres when filling from a tap. I suspect that there are safety reasons behind this. But if that's your only quibble you'll be a very happy bunny buying this. It never crossed my mind that a kettle could actually make me happy to use it, but this one does.Oh, and it boils water. But we knew that.
