Excellent watch for tracking activities and chores for our kids
We’ve had Garmin Vivofit Jr. 3 watches for about two years now—three for our kids and one replacement (only because one was lost!). These are the perfect introductory watches for kids. There’s no need for WiFi or a cellular plan, and the battery lasts well over a year—huge plus. The watches are very durable. Our kids wear them everywhere—playing outside, getting them wet, through daily wear and tear—and they’ve held up great. The app interface is easy to use, and the chore tracking has become a super helpful tool for our family. It’s turned daily tasks into something fun and rewarding. Our kids also love the activity challenges—it keeps them active and a little competitive in a healthy way.The only feature we wish it had is a “find my watch” function—maybe a way to make it beep or ping. That would’ve saved us from replacing the one we lost. We’ve tried third-party bands, but they didn’t hold the watch as securely as Garmin’s official ones, so we definitely recommend sticking with the originals.Overall, we highly recommend the Vivofit Jr. 3. It’s been an excellent, screen-free tool that builds responsibility and gets our kids moving.

Perfect gift
My daughter has the Disney version of this (7 yo, purchased when she was 5-6 yo) and loves it. We love the step and activity tracking, but the chore function is also great! Definitely helps her be aware of her daily chores and routines. You can points for doing the chores and then craft rewards that can be "redeemed" through the app. We ended up buying this version for her cousin (9 yo) and she also loves it. Beware that to use the full functionality the kid and parent will both need to access the app on the phone daily or multiple times a day.

Great gift for 8yo!
My 8yr old girl loved getting this as a gift. It has definitely made her more excited about being active whereas she used to just want to play in her room all day. She actually said “Let’s go farther so I can get more steps” on a walk we took the other day. The active minutes is another helpful metric for her to try to hit. This watch uses gamification to establish healthy habits in kids. Incidentally, it is also a great way to build math skills. Just having them read off the steps in the thousands and ten thousands is great practice. We’ve also had convos like “How many more minutes do you have to move until you reach your goal of 60 min?”Three observations:1) it is a little hard to read indoors, but not too bad.2)I had issues syncing it after I set it up. Garmin’s support forums and pages helped me solve that.3)I haven’t dug into the chores and rewards yet, but that could help with incentivizing in other areas too.I am actually going to buy another one for her older brother who is wanting to track activity and earn rewards. There is an option to allow profiles to go head to head but I haven’t decided if that will inspire or discourage, but it could be fun depending on how your kids are wired.

Falls out
The watch is amazing, my kids absolutely love it. The tracker falls out of the watch band very easily. We’ve had them for 5 months- the first two months were great, after that the tracker started popping off. Wish there was a solution

Kids love to cash in rewards!
My 7 and 9 year old boy and girl love their watches! Like some have said, the screen is dark and my older eyes can't see it very well, but the kids have never complained about it.We added their chores to the app so they can earn coins. They love doing the adventure every evening, after they get their 60 minutes of activity. They regularly "cash in" their coins for rewards we came up with (front seat for one week, overnight at grandparents, stay up late, choose dinner, movie night, trip to the park, etc.)

Perfect for my 7 year old i
My nine-year-old son already had one of these but an older version. My daughter has been begging for one because of that. She is thrilled to track her steps and loves the other features that come with it. We are very happy with the Garmin as a smart watch, just wish I could make calls or text. That’s a whole different watch though.😏 highly recommend as a starter watch.

Rash
The activity tracking part of this watch worked well. I enjoyed the chore tracking. However, the face of the watch was very dark and there was not an option to turn up the illumination. Also, about a month into wearing it, the watch started leaving what looks like a burn on her skin under the face of the watch. We switched wrists and it did the same thing. Most recently the entire band started irritating her wrist. We did all of the things to ensure the watch was clean and dry, but to no avail. Very frustrating

Love it
Love this watch for my 7 year old. Durable and Easy to use and I like that it does not have games available so it’s not overly distracting. The app is fun to use and she loves knowing the time and seeing her steps and things on the watch itself. I also love that it doesn’t need constant charging. Highly recommend!!
