This is a superb cradle
This seemed to be the only product which would fit all of my requirements for a VW Jetta, where there is really not a lot of "open space" available to position a phone. (ie, I don't want it above the dash blocking my view, and I don't want it blocking vents, radio or any other controls/indicators.) Plus there was not a lot of good places to attach to with those above requirements. (I did not want to use a vent mount.)I initially used it with the extra sticky under pad, which oddly enough caused the thing to adhere less well to my dash. Now mind you I have a very heavy phone, a Nexus 6 (about the same as an iPhone 6 weight/size-wise), and I had the horizontal extender on this unit extended all of the way out, which increased the leverage (or moment, as I think engineers call it), causing the base to loose adhesion during hot days.I ended up backing down the extension, moving the phone to a less ideal, but still OK location, and attaching it directly to the dash instead of using the gummy pad. It has been there for nine months, and held pretty well (I think I had to reattach it once)I really like the one-handed insert/release operations for this. When you insert the phone in to the cradle, you press the phone into the back of the cradle so that you are causing the big "button" in the center of the cradle to be pushed. When the phone is well-seated this way, that big button causes the clip fingers on both sides to snap inward and grab the phone. Releasing it is just as easy and natural. When you reach for the phone, you grab the phone, but make sure your thumb and fingers go slightly past the edges and wrap around the back of the phone, your thumb and finger tips naturally find and press (or squeeze really) two other buttons which cause the clip fingers to spread, click into their open position and let the phone go.I'm making it sound much more complicated than it really is, and having had other phone cradles which require both hands, one to hold the phone, the other to make the mechanism release, this is SO much better! In fact, I was going to give this a 4 because of the adhesion problem, but I realize the elegance and robustness of this mechanism is just superb, and deserves the full five.I usually try the cheapest cradles, and end up with cheaply built junk that works, but that eventually break, a false economy I now realize. I think this cradle will still be working ten years from now.I would say the one ding one might have with this is that in a small car, this is pretty big and inelegant looking, but thats what you get when you want to "have it all", which was what my requirement list entailed. It has to be big to manage a monster phone like mine, it has to have that extension mechanism etc.

Decided to give 2.0 a chance
I purchased V1.0 of this mount a little over a month ago and was terribly disappointed with it. It worked excellently for about 4-5 uses then broke when the plastic retaining clip for the arm spring snapped off.I was super hesitant, but I decided to give this "revised" version a shot since I really liked the mount before it broke.I will say, it appears they have fixed the issue with the original mount. I have been using this for a couple weeks now and the arms haven't broken. I'm still super skeptical because the retaining hook on the arm is still plastic...so I'll update this review as time goes on to see if it still stacks up. I think they beefed up that hook a little bit more and also shortened the overall width of the arms(not sure about that, but it seems so).Still, this mount deserves credit where it's due:-Looks nice-Tons of adjustment options to cater to whatever position you want your device in-Easy to use: the push button back is ingenious and works excellently as well as the push button wings that allow for easy and fast removal. Seriously, this mount is the quickest and easiest one to use that I've ever come across. It requires minimal effort and is pretty much "brainless" to use.-The dash pad is excellent. Doesn't leave the "ring" on removal and, based on my last return, it's stuck on there really really well. The suction cup on the mount is also super sticky and adhering. Zero movement and it's been stuck exactly where I placed it a couple weeks ago. There really are no cons that I can think of yet. The only thing is, based of my previous experience, I'm still weary of the longevity of the plastic hook that attaches to the spring on the arms of this mount. I won't take a star off for that, however, since it appears to have been fixed.I definitely will do a follow up after a few months to report in on how it's holding up.

Great Option!
This has proven to be a very nice mount. I've actually had to remount it twice now, after the initial mounting and it still remains in place. Very versatile in positions and super simple to get phone in and out of. If I ever need another, I will look to iOttie first! UPDATE March 27, 2017 my unit broke. The little center plate, like trigger plate that gets pushed in and allows the arms to snap in place, broke off. The unit still works but I have to continually put the center silver and black plate into place before I can get it to work. It's just plastic and I suppose in extreme temperature changes such as those found in Wyoming perhaps plastic doesn't hold up well. A 1-year warranty is stated on the product, but I have not looked into warranty replacement as of yet. I'm an Uber driver and really can't be without my mount, so sending it in for warranty consideration and then either being issued a new one or having to buy a new one at that time really isn't an option for me. But I will buy another one of these and hope the new one lasts longer than 8 months. 2nd update March 6, 2018. After my first one broke, I ordered this one. This weekend the same trigger plate broke again. Warranty was honored on the first one, so I will attempt warranty on this second one as well. Wish they could improve the quality of the trigger plate because in all, the unit is great! Very versatile! My new one will be the 4th generation iOttie, maybe the trigger plate will be improved as my gen 2 and gen 3 both broke.

Super practico y resistente
