Not what I expected...but far, far better!
Given the band's name, the album cover and the album title, you'd think this was a typical, speedy Euro-inspired epic power metal extravaganza. I certainly thought so until a friend forced me to check them out. This was not what I expected and a whole bunch of what I like, which is a refreshing surprise. Code of Silence is more of a midpaced melodic power metal with some Kamelot-ish flavorings mixed with the frenetic guitar energy of Magnitude 9's debut. The vocals are outstanding on this. I don't ever remember Gus Monsanto sounding this good before. I cannot give this a full five stars because of the production. It's not bad by any means, but something was missing as it didn't have the punch it needed in some tunes. You'll hear what I mean when you purchase this, and I'm sure you will cause this is an outstanding melodic metal disc that impressed this particular, self-proclaimed prog snob.

Best newcomer in quite sometime
I've had this for about a week or so now and think that this will take some beating for my album of the year. Anyone who likes melodic metal should buy this. There aren't any filler tracks on this either. My personal favourite is Midnight Cathedral closely followed by Here to Heaven. This album runs at around 72 minutes with the bonus tracks. Most of the tracks are midpaced but that for me is a good thing. Production is also top notch. Of course this reminds me a bit of Edens Curse due to Paul Logue's massive contribution.Must mention that there are some really good guitar solo's to sink your teeth into. Vocals are also very good. In fact all the playing on this album is great. These guys deserve to be big but in today's climate thats unlikely to happen. You won't go wrong getting this album.

Stunning Album
The variety across the album makes it stand out. Quality of writing, performing and production is pure quality. A new act that should go a long way and put to sham the rubbish that you get on these TV shows.
