Men’s Apex Bionic 2 DWR Softshell Hooded Jacket

The North Face products have never let me down, until I ordered the Apex Bionic 2 Hoodie. I loved the color and the look of this jacket. The weight was perfect, heavy enough for low 50's. The fit however was horrible. I am 6'2" 180lbs., picture a T-Rex, long legs/torso and little arms, that's me. The jacket felt like I was wearing a crop top(I ordered a large, just like all my other TNF jackets). If I lifted my arms the bottom of the jacket would pass my stomach! Come on'! It sat very high on my chest, the collars were in my face and just didn't fit. The material was semi-rigid and didn't flex/move well (Note: I did not wash it, I am fairly certain this would help the material relax.). Even adjusting the waist draw strings, every time I moved a gap would open up somewhere and let a bunch of cool air in, to the point where it didn't feel like I had a jacket on. TNF offers this jacket in a Tall model, but without the hoodie! The materials and build are what you'd expect from TNF. If TNF offered this jacket in a (THE HOODIE) in a Tall I'd be wearing it right now. Also, where did the adjustable wrist straps go? That was disappointing, especially when this jacket is marketed for wind and rain.

I wore this jacket for over one week straight for my visit to New York, New York. The built-in hood was a lifesaver for the winds and rains in NYC. With no umbrella, I was able to walk in the rain without getting soaked. I ordered one size larger than usual to be able to layer up for walking around NYC. And fits great with an adjustable waist that I never had to use. And the best part about this jacket is that it was 20% below my local store's sale prices for the same jacket. One of my favorite winter jackets I have worn for a long time. 5 stars all the way for this jacket on performance, comfort, and quality.

Surprisingly there aren't any reviews on here for this fleece/jacket. However I originally bought the zip jacket without the hood and decided to buy one with the hood and I'm happy that I did. This jacket is water resistant and has a thin layer of warm fleece in the inside. It's not an active fit, however when wearing it, it seems to look like that style even with a fluffy feller myself. It keeps you surprisingly warm and the hood and collar makes it difficult for any moisture to seep in. I highly recommend for those sleet and snow days!

Stitching quality of received jacket was terrible that it made me wonder if it was a knockoff. There were thread ends sticking out in multiple locations (at least 5+ locations). Jacket color also looked off as there where invisible to the naked eye silver lines everywhere in the fabric.

Im a Northface advocate. I have a closet full of their stuff. 3 Apex bionic jackets. 6 hoodies. Hiking boots. The Jim Beanies hats. Love them have 4 diff colors. But yes. The Apex bionic is a wonderful jacket. Not too crazy abour the New material. But its still nice. Hope this helps

There are a couple of details that are disappointing. First, the retail label and the fabric label have a mismatch in the size, the retail label says "S" and the fabric label "M" (I bought a size "S". Second, the product itself came in bad shape, it doesn't seem like it was damaged during shipping but the fabric looks worn out and old, even with some small holes here and there in the product.

My favorite jacket. Looks great, and keeps you warm down to 35 degrees. The only dislike I have is the pockets are lined .. the wind will come up your jacket and make your hands cold if draw strings are pulled tight.

This is my second Apex Bionic. I have used other jackets, but this is heaven. The best in windproof and the right warmth for fall and early winter weather. The quality of the material and sewing is also very good and will last for many years. Good buy.

I had the OG Apex Bionic about 10 years ago but it got lost somewhere, and when I saw the new version on sale I had to get it. Same windproof qualities, the sleeves have more taper to the wrist and no longer have the velcro tabs to provide a seal against wind / water but this hasn't been an issue. Overall an improvement to the previous model. Fit is true to size (I'm 187cm / 6'2" and 80kg / 176 pounds) and the medium is perfect.
