I found this item, when only two sets were available, and bought one. I rather thought that the bowls might slightly too small and they are small, but we now use them all the time - nuts, yoghurt, olives, name it. The tray is super nice, well made and is used on its own, not only with the set of bowls. I have to admit, that despite the price being increased after buying the first set, I did got the second one!

We entertain at our house a lot, and I am always looking for fun and unique ways to present food and beverages. I have a lot of different trays and thought this would be a fun one to add to our collection. While I really like the style and design of this set, I have mixed feelings about it... QUALITY The ceramic pieces are an okay quality. One of the pieces in my set has a couple of blemishes in the ceramic - so it's not perfectly smooth like the other two pieces. One of the blemishes/dimples is on the lifted curl, so it is noticeable even when there is food on the plate. The corner opposite the curl is also warped. The ceramic plates are quite thin - more thin than a standard dessert plate. The bamboo tray is a decent quality, but there are scratches on the surface next to one of the ceramic plates and it is very noticeable. The rounded corners that the plates sit in is also not perfect - the curves are a little rough. These curves could have been finished better. STYLE and FUNCTION I really love the combination of white ceramic and bamboo. I have many trays with this combination and I think the style fits with pretty much any decor or party theme. The ceramic plates are small at around 5-inches, so each plate isn't going to hold much. The plates look nice with small snacks such as finger cookies or small bars. Because the plates have no lip around the edges, they won't work for anything with a liquid-like sauce. While I do like the style of this set, I think the price tag of $53.59 is really high for the lack of high quality workmanship and is the reason for 4-stars instead of 5. I have other pieces from Restaurantware, and I just don't think the quality of this piece justifies the high price.

Great as a decorating item.

These dishes are really cute, and I could see them being used to serve "sample" size items where you're only going to put one bite (about a tablespoon) of dry food on them, but because the dishes are only about 4" square and are completely flat (other than one corner that's flipped up and serves as a handle of sorts), you can't put anything with any kind of thin sauce or liquid on them or it will run right off the plate. That is really my only complaint, but it's kind of a big one - who wants to take up storage space for something that can only be used in such a narrow, specific, manner? Otherwise, the dishes fit nicely in their spots in the tray, and I could see using the tray, itself, as a serving tray without the dishes inserted - the little raised squares might keep bowls or glasses from sliding or something. But the little plates, themselves? The only way I can really see myself using them is maybe as pillar candle holders? It's a shame because they are nice quality pieces that feel solid and have a nice finish, etc. I guess if you're not looking for anything that will contain anything runny or liquid, I would say go ahead and get this. But you're not really going to serve food on it unless you use them as tapas plates with no sauces, and every diner gets their own set.
