This kit is for extending Bachmann e-z track n-gauge layouts. Although the points are electrically switched, be aware that the they're constructed with dead frogs, which (for newbies) means that to avoid a short circuit the frog is unpowered. This can lead to locomotives stopping across the points, depending on the length of the locomotive and the relative position of its electrical pickups, and usually if running at slow speed. Other manufacturers have overcome this problem, e.g. Peco makes n-gauge Electrofrog points, and apparently Kato also. Plenty of info available on the internet about this.
