Q: What does import version mean?

Just means its an imported copy. But it is exactly the same As the US version. Both versions are manufactured by NINTENDO. Works perfectly

Q: Will there be any issues with dlc (affected by region) if i am playing this in us? i ask as this is shipping from uk and that concerns me.

Nintendo switch console will use the settings (you) entered when first set-up. (No difference) Uk version has more languages to choose from.

Q: Do you have to use the shake controls? Having to shake in handheld mode seems annoying and possibly damaging.

You can use the pro controller, but it is recommended to us the shake controls for the best experience plus other in game actions

Q: I see two listings for this game. 1 for $59.95 and one for $50.06. What is the difference?

Doesn't appear to be a difference. The one with the discounted price is the one currently being sold by Amazon. I suspect an online seller created another listing. Not sure why. You're safe buying the cheaper one.
