ELM 327 Car Diagnostics USB Interface VAG-COM Cable For OBDII Protocols

Not having a CD drive, it was a bit of a pain to get the software online. I was able to find drivers online just by searching "ELM 327 VAG-COM". It took me about 1/2 hour to get everything running.After installing a performance dogbone mount, there was unwanted vibration in the car. I used a free and simple software called Lemmiwinks to raise the idle to 1,000 rpm. The same software can be used to do a bunch of fuel adjustments. I also used VCDS-lite to change the lock/unlock features in my VW.

I took a gamble on this OBDII adapter and unfortunately got burned. For those not in the know, VAG-COM is proprietary to Volkswagen, Audi, and Skoda vehicles. The software included with this adapter is (non-registered) VCDS Lite, a well known VAG-COM software tool on a burned disc...not a good sign. This may work for VW/Audi/Skoda users (reviews seem to point in that direction) but VCDS Lite does NOT include OBD-II functionality; that will require the $100 registration. I tried this adapter with just about every freeware OBD-II software I could find online and nothing else would work with it. So, for generic OBD-II functionality, skip this one.

Worked great on a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta. This is proprietary it will not work on other non VAG vehicles. (Don't buy for your ford, chevy Nissan etc). Drivers and software easily downloadable online from the vcds website.

I honestly can't give a full review of this, because it was incompatible with my vehicle. However, the unit was in good condition and the tests I COULD do everything worked out fine.The only issue was this: The item clearly states in the title ELM 327. It's even the first part of the title. However, ELM 327 DOES NOT MEAN COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER ELM 327 SYSTEMS. This is entirely only usable with VAG-COM compatible systems.

I don’t even know what this crap is and the more the seller tries to explain how to use it the more I think they are catfishing. Thanks for the wire to keep my truck shut with lol.

This product is NOT an ELM327. After a lot of research I discovered that VAGCom cable cannot also be ELM327. I guess it might work fine if you are using it with the VAGCom SW but it does not work as a general purpose ELM327.They should relabel it.

This Gauge is excellent, I use it to communicate with the ECU and TCU of my 2008 subaru legacy GT, I use Freessm (Subaru Select Monitor) and am able to get diagnostic codes and real time readings of all my cars information. I've fixed hard shift and been able to pinpoint failed coil packs with Freessm.

Seems to be very good quality. The cable is long enough to reach my tablet that is mounted overhead in a console. I couldn't get the software to open on my laptop. But have an app for my tablet.
