This is a really great question I will be happy to assist you with.

First I would like to explain why Sulfates are necessary in any cleaning agent from Shampoo to laundry detergent.

The three most commonly used sulfate compounds are sodium laureth sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate and ammonium laureth sulfate. Each type of sulfate is different in intensity. The "-eth" versions are milder and good to use in your professional formulated shampoos. 
Sulfates are surfactants. Shampoos, soap and detergents are made from long molecules. These molecules have a head and tail. These molecules are called surfactants. The head of the molecule is attracted to water and the tail is attracted to grease and dirt. Their job is to reduce the level of surface tension between your shampoo and your skin, allowing the active ingredients in the shampoo to do a more effective job of cleaning dirt, oil and dead skin from your scalp and hair.
Sulfates are found in a variety of products, from shampoo to laundry detergent. When used in shampoo, ingredients like sodium lauryl sulfate essentially amplify the effects of the shampoo, allowing it to strip away more of the things that make your hair oily and uncomfortable. They in capsule the dirt, oil, product and environmental impurities and leave the hair when rinsing with water.
Sulfates are “good” they make shampoo far more effective. They rid and clean the scalp and hair of all sebum, dirt, product build up, environmental impurities and dead skin cells.
