This is the last kneeboard I think I'll ever need. Finally. As a Private Pilot still working my way through IFR and hopefully other training I was searching for a good kneeboard to help organize my cockpit. I use the iPad Mini for my approach plates and weather, of course, but I prefer to write down ATC instructions and ATIS info on paper. I was also looking for multiple solutions for places to store a pen and a few custom checklists I created. I had tried storing the checklists in a pocket to the side and clipping the pen to the ASA Kneeboard I've been using since my PPL training. Unfortunately, neither solution was ideal. The pen, especially, would go missing whenever I really needed it. (I'm so bad with pens that I keep them squirreled around the cabin) I tried a visor organizer, but the visor in my 172 is anchored differently than a typical car visor. I tried a seat belt organizer with the same results. Thankfully, this kneeboard has it all. It has a nice clipboard, narrower but still sufficient to hold the Amazonbasics 8/5.5 note paper I use. It has several pen loops (YAY!) to hold my pens and styluses. And it has a wonderful series of binder loops, though it does not come with clips. (I already had some, so this wasn't an issue.) I was able to cut down some page protectors to fit my small check lists so that when I need them I can view them but otherwise they hang to the left side of my leg, out of the way. The velcro is rock solid and has a great grip and the overall fit and finish is great. It's really a fantastic kneeboard, despite the fact that it's more than double the price of ASA's products. (Having spent thirty dollars on all of those other unsatisfying pen and document storage items, I wish I'd found this first!)

Very well made out of sturdy materials. At 6'2" as passenger in a Cessna 150, room is precious. This worked well for keeping notes and reviewing maps while doing aerial telemetry searches. Adding 2 metal rings, and a zippered pouch designed for a similarly sized 3-ring binder worked well for keeping extra notes and pens and pencils. The wide leg band was comfortable and secure on my large leg. It would grip a smaller leg well too. The velcro flap pocket is handy for spare AA batteries for my handheld GPS. The long slash pocket on the right was handy for a quick reference printed map. The pen holder barely accomodated my large Sharpie pen (about 7/16" / 1 cm diameter). The notepad clip's raised center worked well as a place to clip my pen. The clip securely held my 5" x 8" notepad. The thick vinyl strap with velcro was nice to secure a folded note under my notepad. Two patches of scratchy hook closure ("Velcro" rough side) on the underside seem designed to keep it neatly folded when not being worn. Fine on my duck pants, but would be uncomfortable wearing shorts. A couple of pieces of loop velcro, or fabric that sticks to the hook patches would alleviate that discomfort. I don't think the velcro deserves dinging a star. It is nice for storage.
