We use premium materials from different locations depending on the product (for example, our Shogun & Phantom Series uses steel made in Japan, and our Gladiator Series uses steel made in Germany and handles made of pakkawood from Spain.) Where Are These Made? I know the description states 'German Steel", but where are they actually made?

The blades are manufactured in a state-of-the-art facility within YangJing China (a city renowned for knife crafting for nearly 1500 years) using imported ThyssenKrup high-carbon steel and pakkawood imported from Spain . Our expert knife makers trained in traditional Japanese knife craft (the foreman himself trained for years in Japan under a master tradesman) spend significant time painstakingly crafting and hand-polishing the blades under strict guidelines. Do these knives cut smoothly or rough cut and how do they compare with a smooth blade knife?

these knives are for dinning. these Knives are a very smooth cut and are very very sharp a great knife for every steak occasion .like a hot knife through butter ,if you will

So straight edge over serrated with this one?

Thank you for your question. It really boils down to your preference. Serrated steak knives do not need to be sharpened for a very long time, and are safer to handle (say for younger users), but naturally they are not going to cut meat as cleanly as a straight edge steak knife would. Straight edge knives are also easier to sharpen, but the edge also wears out quicker than a serrated one.
