Edimax EDBR-6258N Broadband Router (Red)

This router is fantastic. It is your usual router that does much the same as all the rest but is little bigger than a matchbox. I work in computers and travel a lot and this comes with me every time. It allows me to share a hotel wired internet connection between my laptop and my iPad. I plug my laptop into the hotels wired internet connection, start I.E. and do all the usual stuff when challenged by the hotels internet charging system. Once I have an internet connection then I plug this magic little routers WAN port into the hotel cable. Because I have set the routers mac address and hostname to the same as my laptop the hotel thinks its still talking to my laptop. I plug the laptop into the routers LAN connection and my laptops is still connected to the internet but now its protected with my firewall. But the clever bit is I now have my own secure WiFi hotspot that my both my iPad, iPhone and my laptop can use. It can be powered from a USB port or my iPad charger or my blackberry charger using the same USB cable as my blackberry so I don't have to carry all of these with me.

Adquirí dos de estos equipos y ambos llevan funcionando meses con las mismas versiones de firmware. Uno de ellos me ha dado algo de guerra, pero puede ser debido a fallos míos de configuración. En general, cumplen lo que prometen y tienen un consumo limitado. Perfectamente recomendables.

The signal strength is good and the unit is neat can also be used powered off the laptop if I need to share a LAN in a meeting, only one slight concern is the stress put on the mini USB conenctor if the power lead moves about (when used to share in a meeting) so have put it into a seperate box with the RJ45 and power lead coming out via grommets to reinforce, but it performs well

Ce routeur est incroyablement petit et sera génial pour les grands voyageurs. En particulier pour ceux qui veulent utiliser leur iPhone ou leur iPad quand il n'y a pas le Wi-Fi dans leur chambre d'hôtel mais seulement une connexion Ethernet.
