Scholastic Comprehension Workbook (Ages 5-7))

Bought one book for 6year old twins as their teacher said despite being good readers some help in making sense of what they read may be useful. As the book said it was for 5-7years, only bought one thinking we could do activities verbally. But doing an activity verbally showed me that kids are not always fully grasping what they read. Just ordered the second book so that each will have their own to write on. Lovely coloured illustrations. Appealing to children and adults!

C'est un cahier assez standard, qui couvre bien les différents aspects de la compréhension. J’apprécie les exercises selon thèmes comme 'retelling', 'prediction', ou 'clarification', ainsi que la section évaluation à la fin. Par contre, pour moi c'est dommage que certains exercices sont basé sur des livres pour enfants et non pas créer pour les exercices. Peut-être certains aimeront cet aspect, mais je trouve que l'enfant peut aller dans son memoire de l'histoire et non pas l'acivité. Aussi, c'est un peu triste de ne pas avoir l'histoire entier, mais juste un zoom sur une ou deux idées. J'ai acheté plusieurs des histoires par la suite.

Good practice book.

This is an excellent comprehension skills resource with the added bonus of being in colour! I am impressed with the layout and range of summarising, predicting and clarifying skills-based activities. My class will love the great choice of fiction and non-fiction titles from top authors. Also this is the first workbook I've seen for this age group that shows them how to ask and answer their own literal and in-depth questions about the stories to help them check they have understood what they have read.

I really rate this book because it suppports the skills required for good scores in ks1 SATS; inference, predictions, prepositions- this book provides excellent practice for children moving up to practicing reading papers for SATS. A great find!
