This stuff is incredible
First off I want to start off my review stating that I tried several different window films. I finally swapped over to this one because it had the reflective material that I really wanted to actually reflect away the energy instead of absorbing it, and it is used for the exterior. Let me elaborate a bit on this. I initially tried Gala products that were also all reflective. I tried their privacy and heat control stuff. The problem with those is that they get extremely hot on the INSIDE of the window. That is so ridiculous because all that does is radiate heat still slowly into the room. I saw zero to maybe barely any temperature drop when using that product. That changed dramatically when I tried this stuff. This stuff goes on the exterior and will ALSO heat up a bit, however this stuff is on the outside glass so the wind will carry away some of the heat and the heat will radiate back OUTSIDE of the house. This stuff is so shiny, that as the sun sets I can see casts of light shooting across my lawn that moves along with the sun. That is point one, is that is proof that it is reflecting a lot of the energy elsewhere, preventing that energy from entering the room. The interior stuff also did this but it certainly did not have as much of a reflection as this stuff, and the energy would still get absorbed into the panes of glass as the energy kept passing through the glass. Physically, this stuff works. *Some* of it has started peeling a bit at the bottom of the windows but the windows were atrociously dirty and although I tried my best to clean them, there seemed to be enough debris to allow it to lift a little. No worries, the other parts still have enough of a strong adhesive that it is still sticking so far. I live in very windy Rhode Island too, near the coast! I have already invested in 3 rolls of the 36"x14'. I just keep coming back for more when I come home to a warmer house, knowing that I could further cool it off from the summer rays. A few points before you jump in on this. It is difficult to apply, especially to large windows. I pretty much became a professional after doing it so much with several rolls even from different companies. Just clean the window thoroughly. I use car care products and even used some of my clay bars meant for my car on the windows before putting the film on to try to make sure it was really clean. Use tons and tons of soapy water too, spray it everywhere as you slowly peel the clear plastic off the film. Another note is this stuff has dropped the temperature by maybe 3-5 degrees at most. I ONLY have it on my west windows since that was the problem area for me and I think I could get a further drop if I did it on my east windows. Your results will obviously vary depending on window size and where your problem areas are. Don't expect this stuff to replace air conditioning.

Good Quality Film
Good quality film, not flimsy either. I used it on the outside of a 9 - single pane, garden box window that gets morning sun. I got to do it 9 times... lol It was easy to apply, watch the video. Trick,.. lay the film... Hold at one end and lay it so the far end touches last. Give it the 3 days it will look better. Mine is almost perfect. (If I'm not mistaken, the woman making the video is a Gold Star recipient). The Garden box over the sink feels cooler, but I had to know so I measured it with a heat gun, the kind I use when measuring the intake and exhaust of my AC. Fairly accurate. There is a 2 deg. delta (Difference) for the OAT (Outside Air Temp) measured at the hottest windowpane. Wish I had measured the pane before the install. It's 2 degrees right now. 96 out 94 inside. - It's not dark, looks like the tint on a Good, Milguard,.. double pane, tinted window. - The mirror / reflection quality is decent too. It's not like looking in a mirror but it does reflect. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I thought it was more mirror than reflection. I like it, but if you want a mirror this is not it. Spend the 5 dollars on the baby shampoo it works good. It is was 10 drops to a pint. Expensive drops but it was worth it not to have to remove the film because the stuff I was using, affected the bond. I read somewhere that Dawn messes with the glue for lack of a better word. Buy some window cleaner that is for film or won't hurt it.

We'll see if it lasts
Does exactly what it's supposed to do: really, does a good job of blocking heat (remember, this installs on the outside of the window) from entering the house with minimal blocking of light. Also, kind of nice, it comes with a very sharp box cutter, you don't need to screw around with a dull utility knife you have laying around. Cons: - Very difficult (on a large window) to install without bubbles. I put this on a pretty large window, 9ft wide and 6 ft tall, and I have some bubbles on every section (admittedly I'm not very good at installing window film, and these were 4-6 feet lengths). The good part is the bubbles are not seriously obvious after installation, like with some window films, but the results is some "blurring" of the view through that part of the window. I would not install this on a large window that I wanted to preserve a great view through. - Just about impossible to install on a large window by yourself, this film is just too thin and goes all over the place in any kind of breeze. - I've already got one corner that's lifted about an inch, I don't really know how long it will last. Remember, spray the window with lots of soapy water and the surface of the film with lots of soapy water, and when you think you have enough, spray more: there needs to be enough that the film will slide around so you can position it. Also, don't even try to install this on a hot day in direct sunlight: the soapy water on the window will evaporate so quickly while you are trying to get the film onto the window that it will just stick and be a major pain.

Works great, provides privacy and blocks some heat. Can be difficult to put on, but you can figure it out.

Received this very quickly in central BC. Pretty straight forward install (except for wind - don't try this in the wind). A couple tips that I could give are: 1. Cut the film on a piece of clean dry styrofoam building sheet - made the cut so much easier, and 2. Tape the top of the film to the (in my case, skylight frame) then peel the underside clear film away underneath as spraying glass and film underside with slightly soapy water. Use lots of mildly soapy water...1 Very happy with the product and sure cuts the heat load down from the skylights.

Needed a exterior film for a old garage window with bad seals to stop moisture between the glass so far looks good.
