I bought this for the display. I just wanted a clear speed projected. When it worked it did that. However, if you have to use the thumbwheel interface and need the manual to change settings that is a huge frustrating challenge. Out of the box it switched off after 5 seconds (others have reported this). In dialogue with the seller I was sent a user manual and advised to change the transport protocol - 4 to choose from and pot luck if it works. To get to this you have to learn the way the product cycles through various displays and how (and when) the thumbwheel works (allow maybe an hour + and patience!).I succeeded in getting a speed display. Then it started randomly switching off, after between seconds and minutes of use. To start it again, switch the car off and restart. Not worth the effort, I'm sad because the display looked great. 2008 Lexus 400h (oh and now I have a check hybrid system warning!).EDIT - Full Refund given immediately - no hassle. Yes you could get away with not using the reflective film but using it gives a much clearer image. I did not have to adjust any speed values,( Mazda3 BL Series) only needed to set KPH instead of MPH. Read the enclosed instruction sheet thoroughly and find some You Tube tutorials relating to working with the menu.I ordered a Sherox brand unit, but the item I received does not carry any brand markings, so I have to take it on blind faith.

not working in my 02 F150 all it just counts to 5 and turn off, will work in other cars, tested it in an 18 Ram and a 16 escape.

Bought this for my Porsche Macan since that car doesn't offer a HUD option. I only need MPH and that's it hence reason I bought this versus some of the other tacky over-featured displays. It took a little while to get this dialed in properly. For instance, getting to the settings mode was a little tricky at first because you have to push the mode dial down exactly at 90 degrees or else it doesn't register as you holding down the button. But once there, the settings appeared straightforward. I was easily able to set for MPH versus KM/H and set things like mode and brightness setting. The speed calibration setting took a few trial and error settings as the default of 108 was too high. But I found a reasonable match at the 104 setting which was within plus/minus 1 mph. So far so good.Now the real annoying feature. This is just about a deal breaker for me if I cannot find a solution. But the overspeed alarm setting range is way too low. The range is from 25-80 mph. In CA it seems that normal freeway traffic flow reaches 80 mph regularly. So every time I hit 80 it starts to beep LOUDLY. This is especially annoying if you keep hovering at or around 80 mph as it will beep once it exceeds 80, beep stops when you go a little slower, then beeps again as you increase again, etc. Up to 80 mph is way too low and I could not find a way to turn it off completely. This alone is making start to look around for a different unit and reason for only 3 stars. Hopefully I can find a solution to the overspeed alarm as otherwise I like this HUD.

Few things about this HUD:Good:1) Small2) Bright enough for the day operation.3) Automatically dims the brightness at night.4) Not busy displayBad:1) False advertisement about no need for reflection film - you need one unless you OK with double reflection.2) The glue pads don't stick to dashboard unless you use crazy glue.3) After being on the dashboard for 1 week under the sun, the screen on the HUD (not a reflection screen, actual plastic screen that is on the HUD) buckled and came off.4) The reflection screen that came with the unit is more like a mirror and looks odd from outside.I will not recommend to frend or buy this again. - $42.95 for me.
