This is the 21st Anniversary of Cure's masterpiece. The Cure's classic 1989 album has been remastered. Re-Experience the groundbreaking band's masterpiece, remastered to sound better than ever and now featuring complete lyrics & bonus photos! Review: The mood, the atmosphere, the emotion... The Cure - Disintegration by The Cure is one of those albums that never really leaves you. I was in high school when this came out, and hearing it on vinyl brings all of that right back. The mood, the atmosphere, the emotion — it all still hits just as hard. Songs like “Plainsong,” “Pictures of You,” and “Lovesong” feel timeless, and the album works best when listened to straight through. This pressing sounds great. The music has space to breathe, with rich low end, clear mids, and that lush, layered sound The Cure does so well. Vinyl really suits this album, letting the dynamics and textures shine in a way that feels more immersive than digital. It’s not just nostalgic — it genuinely holds up as a complete, cohesive record. This album is an easy one to recommend on vinyl. A classic that still feels powerful decades later. Review: GREAT CD REMASTERED ! ! - GREAT CD ! - REMASTERED AND SOUNDS EXCELLENT ! - - HOWEVER, desertcart PACKING IS HORRIBLE ! - CD WAS SHIPPED IN A THIN, FLIMSY BROWN ENVELOPE WITH ABSOLUTELY NO PROTECTIVE PACKING WHATSOEVER AND SO CD CASE WAS TERRIBLY DAMAGED ! - VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, IRRESPONSIBLE AND INCONSIDERATE PACKING AND SHIPPING BY desertcart ! - TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE ! !

The best album ever
Why write another review of this album? Is it proper even to use the word "review" in this context? One of the best things Roger Ebert ever said was that Prospero's Books (Greenaway) "stands above criticism". I feel the same way about Disintegration. It's difficult to believe that Robert Smith really wrote this, easier to imagine that Mozart-like this music always was and he just scribbled it out. Not true of course, this music obviously came from the depth of a human soul, and Smith has more than proven his genius. What amazes me is how few people understand what a miracle the Cure is, how long the love between the fans and this band (well, Bob and Simon anyway) has gone on. No other artist I am aware of has produced great music in four decades. Oh sure, there are singers with that kind of longevity, but writing, performing, engineering and producing, plus touring behind it all? Maybe Neil Young? At least he still writes. Oldsters that perform with 86-piece backing bands are disqualified, so that leaves out Bruce, the Stones, etc. Otherwise, forget it, unless there's some country western artist I'm ignorant about, Smith has no competition. So if there are only 283 reviews posted here, why not? Maybe Cure fans shouldn't be so shy in talking about the holy grail, then there'd be tens of thousands and they'd need a new server to hold them all. Now, let's defend that title, the best album ever. I don't need to preach to the converted and mention that every song on this album is a solid, A-class song do I? Anything weak at all? "Closedown" could be criticized as being less than an independent song due to the paucity of lyrical content, but it's a wonderful piece of music in context. My least favorite song might be "Disintegration", just due to the shattering noise it makes in disgorging Bob's relationship guilt, but I'm being silly aren't I? Great song. My favorite is "Last Dance", which oddly enough wasn't on the vinyl, though thank goodness Smith recognizes it, and included it on Trilogy, or I'd die. But I digress. Let's look at the other contenders. The White Album? No way, a good 50% of that album is [...], I don't care what Paul says. And some of the rest are novelty songs that don't really make for serious listening. The Doors? Worthy indeed, but do you really like "Whiskey Song"? I hate it myself, and the album is not a complete effort, despite the overall greatness that cannot be denied. Let's defer to Rolling Stone and pass right over Sgt. Pepper's, some of which is not even listenable, be honest! Pet Sounds? Very dated, not a uniform effort by any means. Revolver? Great songs, but there is a lot of filler on that album, unless you can whistle "And Your Bird Can Sing" for me . . . right now. It's the same for the rest of the top ten, which includes Exile on Main Street, a album loaded with undistinguished blues stuff, even Stones fans will admit. Quick, name one song on that album other than "Tumbling Dice". I'm waiting. Rumours? No, about a 50% great effort, several songs to the scrap bin. You can argue about impact, history, influence, sure. In that context maybe Elvis did have the #11 album of all time, and Sgt. Pepper is #1 (I guess). But just as a piece of music, start to finish, what really compares to this? Damn little. If great men stand on the shoulders of others, maybe in that context Disintegration is the result of integrating all those prior great albums. But it stands on top regardless. The best album ever made.

1 of the most beautiful albums ever written.Cure's best !
I am a metalhead at heart, but any genre of music is great as long as it sounds good. I grew up watching South Park & i remember the Robert Smith episode where Kyle goes "Disintegration is the greatest album ever"...so years later i got into more melodic & spacy music. This is an album perfect for nodding off, making love to your girl,sleeping/waking,etc. The album is a must own,it has an amazing intro song & the album kills from start to finish. It is a journey into darkness, drenched with gloomy and ominous vocals, some great dark and haunting tracks. I think the album has a great blend of heavy thick bass, lots of piano & keyboard incorporated, amazing guitar work too. Robert Smiths voice is great here,as it is in every cd. My favorites are this,Bloodflowers,Pornography & Faith. But this album is the highlight of the Cures collection of albums. The album starts with Plainsong,a very gloomy dark and melodic track. So beautiful. Pictures of You is another excellent track as the pace picks up and the vox are top notch. Closedown slows down again, great harmoniez & guitar work. Love Song is 1 of my favorites on the album, honest, dark, sad & beautiful. Last Dance & Lullaby are gloomy but the tempo picks up and the voice again is haunting. 1 of the best & most notorious tracks is Fascination Street. Another hard hitting, intense & deep track with alot of negative energy, but so beautiful. Prayers for Rain is brooding and scary, haunting with amazing drums and keys and lots of heavy bass. Same Deep Water as You is 1 of my top 3 favorites with Plainsong & Pictures of You,so ominous and dark. Sad,depressing and self loathing but so dark it is beautiful. The album is so dark it can't be seen as anything other than beautiful. Its so dark you can't help but love it. Disintegration,Homesick & Untitled close out the last 1/4 of the album. Dark and scary as every other song. Only way i can explain it is it is sad, dark and depressing it is 1 of the most beautiful albums ever written and recorded. A perfect 10*star album. If you never heard the Cure then get the album here,it is so beautiful it is scary. You can't miss here, everyone will love the album when you play it. Get it now !

Reminds me of what I miss about good English banter!
This has got to be CURE's best! When it comes to such songs as Fascination Street, Disintegration, as well as melancholy songs that are part of CURE's genre, they really do the best job!

Ristampa del 2010 della Polydor Ricords. Il disco conta 12 tracce. Oltre un ora di buona musica . Suono pulito che conserva quell'aura malinconica e romantica di quando fu pubblicato originariamente.

With a reputation as purveyors of gloomy introspection, this - the Cure's eighth studio album - has often been seen as their defining statement. After all, there is plenty of doom and gloom on display to satisfy the most ardent Goth but that would be only telling half the story, for there are moments of beauty, tenderness and passion also. Released in May 1989, the album became one of their most successful, reaching #3 in the UK charts and builds on the formula of their previous release, 'Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me,' with long intros of magnificent, spiralling sound that pulls you into their dark, Gothic dreamscapes of obsessive love and despair but does it deserve to be recognised as their greatest album? I think it does... 1. Plainsong - Surprisingly, it opens with the sound of wind chimes. At times glistening; at times cacophonous, it has a plaintive melody and murmured, echoing vocals. Could the song be about death?.. "And it's so cold, it's like the cold if you were dead.".. It sets the tone and epic nature of many of the songs to follow. 2. Pictures Of You - A fantastic guitar intro heralds one of the album's finest tracks but it stalled at #24 when released as a single. The song seems to be about holding onto the memory of a lost love and the passionate feelings it evokes through the pictures you've kept of her. Not the first or last time that Robert Smith's lyrics would touch on how a man's love for a woman can lead to obsession. 3. Closedown - "If only I could fill my heart with love..." Is this song about losing the ability to feel through too much self-preoccupation? Whatever, it sounds great with dark, rhythmic drums. 4. Lovesong - Written by Smith as a wedding gift to his wife, it went on to become the Cure's biggest hit in America, reaching #2. Sadly, it was not quite as popular in the UK, stalling at #18. Though the music is rather sad, it is one of the band's sweetest songs. 5. Last Dance - Smith lamenting the passing of time and how the girl he once loved so passionately is now a woman, still beautiful but no longer the same. Through a last dance together, he hopes to rekindle the old flame but knows that it is impossible. 6. Lullaby - An odd choice as the first single from the album, reaching a very respectable #5. It has a wonderful arrangement, which creates an unsettling atmosphere and is inspired by a nightmare Smith had as a child. The lyrics touch on arachnophobia and how one becomes transfixed by our darkest fears. 7. Fascination Street - Probably the rockiest and most aggressive track on the album, with great bass and drums. Released as a single but only in America, it is said to be about the hookers of the infamous red light district of New Orleans 8. Prayers For Rain - Why was this magnificent track never released as a single!? I think it's the best song on the album! I mean, the music is absolutely amazing, boasting a wonderful guitar melody and cacophonous drums. As for the lyrics, Smith appears to be singing about a destructive and stiflingly oppressive relationship. 9. The Same Deep Water As You - The longest track on the album, at over nine minutes, it is complete with sound effects of rain and thunder, and seems to represent everything one would expect of the Cure. There is an air of despair in both the music and the lyrics and is great to listen to while wallowing in your own misery, for it has an oddly cathartic effect. 10. Disintegration - A more up-tempo number, though it clocks in at over eight minutes but is it about the pain of breaking up with someone or the trappings of fame?.. You decide. 11. Homesick - Conflict? Addiction? Like most Cure lyrics there are many possible interpretations, so why not just lie down and enjoy the music? And as with most of the songs, there is a lengthy intro before Smith sings wearily of love and despair... 12. Untitled - I interpret the lyrics of this song to be about unrequited love... "Never quite said what I wanted to say to you.".. We've all been there. Too afraid of rejection to express our true feelings for someone and having to live with the regret of a lost opportunity. The music, as always, is excellent, with great drumming once again. While it would be fair to say that it is a long album - clocking in at seventy minutes - and could well have benefited from the loss of one or two tracks, it is still one of the finest albums of the eighties and ought to be in any fans collection of alternative rock. It is, quite simply, the Cure's magnum opus.
