This product is amazing so far!
REVIEW UPDATE - 2023:We now have 6 of these units facing every direction around out garden - THEY WORK FABULOUSLY! We actually seem to have a resident woodchuck and his family - he/she doesn't come near the garden and just eats the clover in the grass. We had to get the additional ones because a skunk dug up three of our seedlings that had just been planted early in the season - after putting these in he/she has never been back again. TOTALLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT! IT'S GREAT WHEN SOMETHING ACTUALLY DOES WHAT IT SAYS IT WILL DO!2022 - Our small garden was attacked by the woodchuck who lives over the edge of our property. We went away for a couple of days and he eviscerated our garden - our string beans that were just starting to produce and our pickles - when we came back we couldn't believe the destruction. We set out traps with watermelon, peanut butter - caught other critters but not the woodchuck - he was too smart! We finally ordered the Bird X Solar Yard Guard and when it came installed it in the garden directly facing the edge of the hill. We had left a trap at the edge of the hill with watermelon. In the early morning we saw something in the trap and figured we would deal with it when we got up. When we got up, my husband said that it was empty!! When he went out, he discovered that what ever animal that was in the trap which was in a direct line of the Bird X unit had chewed through the wire of the trap and gotten out!!!We don't know if the Bird X unit made it crazy or if it was a fluke but ever since we have not had a problem. The woodchuck walks along the area of the hill but does not come to the garden. He even tried to come around from the other side - we had installed another unit by then - and he couldn't come near! So far this is amazing and is working - we finally have growth coming back on the pickles and the new beans we planted are coming up undisturbed!! Definitely recommend this product! IMPRESSED!

No good
This does not work, I watch cats, dogs, deer, skunks and raccoons walk right past it like it's not even there... What a waste of money!!!

Works pretty well, but they don't last very long
The past couple years I've used these for deer and rabbits in Upstate NY, and for armadillos in FL, with pretty good results. But the latest batch I received only lasted a couple months before they failed. It's not the batteries, but the unit itself just stops working. Pretty disappointing. My guess is that qualtiy control has dropped significantly. I'm currently looking for alternative brands.

This solved our stray cat problem
We HAD a bad problem with too many stray cats on our property. We bought six of these to cover both front and backyard and the cats no longer bother us. At all. Turn the frequency up higher to get rid of cats. It’s funny to see the cats walking around the perimeter of our property and never actually walking through it anymore. No more cat droppings on our lawn!

Works Well with Cats and Raccoons; Squirrels not so much!
I had a problem with multiple animals in my front and back yards:* The neighbors' cats loved making a litter box out of my front yard and came nightly to do their business.* Raccoons traveled through my back yard, as if they owned the place, and left their smelly and dangerous poop in my back yard.* Squirrels ran gleefully across my front and back lawns burying the goober peanuts and walnuts that my neighbor faithfully provided to them to keep them coming to his backyard.I was desperate for a solution so I started buying multiple motion-detected ultrasonic devices over the past several years. Of the different brands that I've purchased, the solar-powered Bird-X Solar Yard Guards have been the most reliable. They aren't as fancy as some of the other devices that you'll find on Amazon that include loud audible noises and flashing red lights but I've found that the Bird X are the most reliable. (Most of the other brands malfunctioned or stopped working altogether after a limited period of use.)If you have a decent size area to cover (as I did), you'll need to purchase multiple devices and position them so several devices are always going off at one time over the area that you want to protect. I call these zones Animal Annoyance Zones; they don't harm the animals but they annoy the heck out of them when multiple devices are going off at the same time. So, I'll give you the good news first. Here's what HAS worked with the Bird-X Solar Yard Guards:* They quickly annoyed the neighbors' cats that used to come into my yard — so much so, that now the cats avoid my yard completely. They literally will walk on the sidewalk or in the street in front of my house to avoid coming onto my property. I'm happy to report that my front yard is no longer the neighborhood litter box!* The raccoons took some time. (What can I say raccoons are stubborn beasts!) The raccoons would come through my yard and initially be startled by the strobe lights and then move away from my yard. Later, they would come back and investigate the devices to try and determine what they were and then quickly move through my yard to another location. I found that putting a motion detection device that flashed red lights at night with the Bird X Solar Yard Guards eventually drove the raccoons from my yard. They seemed to have gotten tired of dealing with all the audio frequency and flashing light activity. Now, the bad news! Here's what HAS NOT worked with the Bird-X Solar Yard Guards:* They are useless on squirrels (even when I used the recommended frequency which is different from the frequency for cats and raccoons)! I still have goober peanut shells all over my yard. Yesterday, I went through my front yard and found the neighborhood squirrels literally dug holes in front of several of my Bird-X devices. Clearly, the squirrels appreciated me putting these landmarks out for them so they can locate their buried nuts in the future! So, there you have it: if you're willing to buy multiple devices and position them correctly, these devices can work on some animals. However, if you're using these devices to drive Bullwinkles' friend - Rocky - out of your yard, Rocky is probably not going away anytime soon.
