Red Lantern 26" Red Crowned Cranes Vase Lamp

It looks great but weighs nothing. I’m not expecting a lot from this lamp,

The lamp is beautiful and generally well-made. Others have pointed out several minor issues: (1) the shade's top mount being crooked so that the shade is also tilted, (2) the lightbulb base is tilted. Both of these are not major problems. The lightbulb base will not be seen when the shade is in place -- as long as the lightbulb clears the harp. The crooked, circular, top mount for the shade (where the finial attaches) being crooked is more serious, but can be corrected by gently but firmly pressing the shade into the proper position. If this does not correct the shade, then shims (like a portion of a tooth pick) may be placed on one side of the mount.I love the overall impression made by the lamp. The colors are very rich and even the dark lampshade adds an air of sophistication to the lamp. My home is decorated in an oriental manner (shojii screens on all the windows, oriental furniture, scrolls, artwork, etc.) so the lamp fits perfectly into this environment. Glad I purchased the lamp. It is a good value for the money. In fact, this very same lamp is priced at $750 at a local store (as well as online at their website).

This would have gotten 5 stars if there were not quality issues. First of all, it came wonderfully packaged. There was a very heavy box within a very heavy box and lots of Styrofoam fill. The base looks good. The main problems are with the harp and the finial. The bracket on top of the harp that holds the shade and the finial screws onto was tilted to one side, causing the shade to sit at a 15% angle. I was afraid it would break, but was able to fix it with a pair of pliers. It did take a lot of back and forth to get it straight. There are two problems with the finial. First, the screw hole is offset from center, so to get it straight you cannot tighten it down like you should. And it also has several dings in the finish that I will have to repair with a brown sharpie until I can get a new finial, which also would look better in black. The shade is a very dark burgundy, which my husband likes, but I am not too crazy about. We like it well enough to not send back, but it is just OK, not great.

The lamp looks good, the images are vivid and the color ( a gloss terracotta) is bright. It works well and it is a 3-way lamp. I like it better than the traditional broken ginger jar lamp it replaced.

I had written a bad review (3 stars). However, three days later, I realized that I was just in a grumpy mood and I have now decided that I like them very much. They arrived promptly, well packaged and undamaged. Someone asked if these lamps are 3-way light fixtures; yes they are. I am happy with these lamps and MUCH more importantly, when my wife came home, looked at them, looked at me and SMILED, I knew these were GREAT lamps.

Fast delivery with everything in tact. I like color much more than it appeared to be on my screen. It’s a more true Chinese red/Terra cotta. The birds are not hand painted. I found that a little bit disappointing as the lamps were advertised as hand painted. The basic piece has some potentially hand colored dark brush strokes but that’s it.

I purchased 2 of these lamps. They were delivered ahead of the estimated date of delivery and were well packaged. They are very well made and look beautiful on my 2 bedside tables. The black lamp shade is a nice switch from the traditional white or creme lampshades and gives a nice warmth to the glow/ambience that I didn't expect. By the way, the red has muted black brush strokes throughout which makes this red blend well with other shades of red that might be in the room. Obviously, I am very happy with this product.

This lamp arrived in good condition and was easy to set up. The only minor disappointment is the thin material of the shade. Since it's a dark brown, the new CFL light I used (60 watt) was too bright resulting in a small bright spot seen through the shade. I replaced it with a soft white (also 60 watt) and it's better.I like the lamp very much and it looks wonderful. So, I kept the 5 star rating.
