Le Gigogne Stackable Clear Bowl, 1 Quart / 32 Ounces - Set of 6

I have had these a while and moved between states but these have not chipped or cracked. They get dropped once in a while two. The classic french bowls, they come in different sizes. This is a great size for salads, soups and generous portions of cereal. I saw reviews in which people disliked the raised letters on the inside of the bottom of the bowl. I thought I might think so too, but rarely even notice they are there. I hand wash my dishes and there is no collection of food or extra attention needed at those spots.

Before I bought these my toddler / infant was breaking a bowl every two weeks or so. We wanted to get her away from plastics but - glass has its own issues. So I picked these up, also got some cups from the same manufacturer. They are much more sturdy and survive a tumble to the ground about 95% of the time. They still break though. As a plus the glass is usually in the form of little squares that can be occasionally stepped on without breaking the skin. They are still glass though - it bears repeating. I am writing this review as I come back to buy another set, I'm down to 2/6 but they've lasted 4 years and now into a new child. I did have one odd-one though randomly shatter in the cupboard, part of the thing that makes them so strong is the internal stress but that was a little disconcerting. Still, they get 5 stars - some of the best glass out there.

I have had these bowls for years and only now needed to replace some. They are a great size for soup, salad or cereal. They clean easily, store easily and do not break easily. They are sturdy, dependable and last forever. They are dishwasher safe and will go with anything. They are our go to bowl for cereal every day. They may not be elegant, but they are certainly serviceable and we are very happy with them.

The size, unfortunately, makes them only fit rather loosely into my dishwasher; how that works out will depend on dishwasher model of course. When I don't stack them too tightly they come out beautifully clean, though. We've already had an accident onto a hardwood floor, and the bowl bounced rather than shattering (also at least one accident of that sort with one of their plates). I'm sure that's partly luck, but they aren't "fragile as glass" in anything like the usual sense. They're a beautiful and useful shape, nice to eat out of. Good for main dishes in a bowl, big for cereal (but would be fine if you remembered to put a sane amount of cereal in rather than *filling* the thing).

I'm sure the bowls are very nice, but unfortunately I have had to return the broken bowls due to poor packaging during shipment.

Coming back after 3 years of ownership. Love these bowls...but why did I come back? This morning I was AMAZED. I dropped one of these bowls onto a natural stone kitchen floor. It landed on its side on the bowls top edge. The FREAKING BOWL BOUNCED. I kid you not. It bounced...it did not break. Had it broken I would not have been upset...I dropped it from liek 5 feet as I took it out of the cabinet....as it fell (and I was barefoot) I braced for impact in slow motion. Then it bounced...hit a second time, sort of bounced and rolled until it was upside down. FRIGGING AMAZING! I liked them before...now i would give it 6 stars if I could.

So far, so awesome. I bought these after it came to my attention that nearly ALL ceramic, stoneware and porcelain dishware is made using lead, and can and will leach lead into your food in some amount. This was immediately after getting a beautiful, intricate set (Temptations Floral Lace in dark blue, for those of you familiar) so I was really disappointed. All US-sold products (even imported) must adhere to FDA's guidelines for lead levels, but still.. I'd much rather no toxic chemicals in any amount in my son's food, thank you. I started looking into glass dishes because they are not made with lead, cadmium, etc and I was still mourning the loss of my pretty dish set because well, glass just looked so plain in comparison. I looked at a bunch of brands and many people said they broke or cracked easily, drops, pouring hot liquids, etc. Then I found these. I was hesitant because they were much more pricey, but I went with the 6 piece in Lys 6 3/4" stackable bowls, Lys 9 1/4" plates and Cosy 12oz coffee mugs to start, figuring it wasn't THAT much of an investment. Boy, am I glad I did! I can't say much for longevity yet, but durability, heck yes! Night #1 while doing initial washing, I dropped a plate in my stainless steel sink, cringing but realizing no break or cracks.. Good to go! Then I figured well if it was a porcelain sink, it may have been toast. We've been using the dishes for about a week now and in my clumsiness while making coffee with a melita dripper just now, I knocked two cups off our tile countertop onto our ceramic tile floor. They both hit the floor, clanked off each other, and did not break or crack! I'm sold. Also, the simplicity of the set is actually pretty nice. It lets your coffee or food be the focal point which is more enjoyable, much to my surprise. They're also much easier to clean than intricate sets with raised detailing. I'll stop gushing now, was just so impressed with the survival of the mugs' tumble! Buy these! They're worth the extra $$!

These are pretty sturdy, good body to them, I don't think we've broken one of these yet, despite bouncing them around the sink pretty well. Elegant, just the right standard size for a bowl of cereal or soup, no problems microwaving them. Duralex makes good quality glassware!

Very nice weight to these bowls. They stack awesome, no tipping from side to side. Easy to just grab one. Take up less space in my cupboards. Bowls do not get super hot like corelle. Only thing I didn't like, which is minor is the raised letters on the bottom of the bowl in the inside. Will be buying more of this brand of dishes.

Only 5 bowls delivered? How do I get the missing one? The only choice seems to be to start a return, which seems daft.

Got 2 small sized bowls in a 2ft by 1.5ft huge box.bowls were broken,shards all over this big box n fallng outside,hurt bleedng finger,still not been able 2 remove million small shards from box,which will hav 2 b done so garbage men dont get hurt.Get some common sense n humanity in ur packing.when thats done will b able 2 check if larger bowl is size what i asked 4.

Wife loves them, need I say more...
