Bought for my nephews Christmas gift. He is really into gem mining and stones. This was a fun gift that kept him busy!

I really thought this was going to be slightly harder kinetic-sand texture. This was hard work! Kept my nephews and family busy for hours! We broke some of the tools it came with and used some of our own perhaps not being as patient as we could have been. The gems were great size and quality and overall such a great experience. The value of the gems and bonus for small workout and entertainment was great. I do recommend doing this outside, it created a foggy cloud and sand/flour like dust. It didn’t smell and easily washed off but I don’t think I would want it in my own living room.

Got this for my classroom to “unearth” some Egyptian artifacts. It was so great, but took WAY longer than I had planned to dig out the items. Students loved it, but it took days to be able to allot enough class time to finish.

Make sure you put a box under this or let your kids do it outside because it’s very messy however it’s definitely worth the money because my kids had so much fun finding the different gems and they played with the gems and really thought that they were valuable for quite some time.

I purchased this for my 13 year-old as we are studying ancient Egypt in history class. It was a fun end of unit activity. He was excited to do it. However, we quickly realized that the wooden hammer that was provided was more like a cheap toy and wouldn’t stay together and wasn’t nearly sturdy enough to do the job. Then the next problem we ran into was several of the pieces came out broken. This is surely due to the fact that we had to use sturdier tools to excavate. But overall, it was a good size and kept him busy for an hour.

I bought this just because i love archeology and ancient Egypt and for the little collectible you get. It comes very nicely packaged with a booklet of what you are getting. The dig is quite time consuming i will say because it’s quite hard so you may need to soften it in water (which i did by the end because my hands were hurting) but it’s fun overall. Some of the paint on the collectibles chipped off so be careful while running them under water. One of them broke when i was trying to dig it out. I even got two amethysts instead of just one.

My 7 year old grandson absolutely loved it. Hours of earnest work/ play. Will buy again for other grandchildren
