Not very good
This review is for Al-Aqeeq Authentic Yemeni Coffee in a Medium Roast. I got the Mocha Haraazi flavor. When I first got this tiny pouch of coffee beans I was a little taken back by the size. This is enough for a single pot of coffee. Very surprising but perfectly fine if it make a good cup of coffee. One interesting thing I noted about their packaging is I could not find a vent hole in it like all coffee normally has. That means this was not releasing gasses like it normally should if fresh..When I first opened the coffee up there was no smell. A very faint hint of an earthy note at best. I then ground the beans and again, the only smell that was there was an extremely faint earthy note. Very strange. I have never smelled such a weak coffee bean.I had hoped it would improve in brewing. It did not. The taste was exactly like the smell, it tasted like dirt to me. Like I filled my cup up with dirt and was drinking it. Extremely big earth notes as I said. Very strange. I have had a lot of "gourmet" coffee similar to this and usually you get coffee flavors not dirt. It was smooth so I will give it some points there but the taste was not good by any means.Overall I am very disappointed in this product. Based on the price and size I was expecting something much better flavor-wise and this just could not deliver.

It was just... okay
The roasted coffee beans looked a little dry upon opening the air-tight package, but I had no problem grinding the bean in my grinder. The taste of this medium roast coffee was just okay. Not great. Not memorable.I ordered this coffee because I had never tasted coffee from Yemen and I was curious. I prefer darker brews.

Slight bitterness, not fresh
The beans were not fresh and the coffee had a bitterness that I did not like. The aftertaste was unpleasant. You get 2 ounces of beans and the bag is VERY small for the price. If you work out what this costs by the pound, you really better love it....we did not.

2nd Place
I cold brewed all these so heat would not effect taste. 10oz of water, 2oz of large grind coffee. Here are the results!#1 score 8.7/10. Mocha Yemeni#2 score 8.3/10. Mocha Haraazi#3 score 7.4/10. Haraazi Premium#4 score 6.8/10. Haraazi#5 score 6.5/10. Haraazi RedThe Mocha versions have a nice chocolately profile. The Yemeni is the smootest of the two.The bottom 3 are all similar, nutty profile. Not really my favorite. The medium roast really doesnt lend itself well to cold brewing. Those 3 are probably better on a drip.

Just average. For the tiny bag and price one would want this coffee to be exceptional or at least above average. But it is just average. Not overly bitter, but does leave a very slight aftertaste on the tongue. The small bag brewed one and a half 12c pots. I just wasn't overly impressed for the size.

Distinct and delicate
2oz/63g bag makes one pot of coffee. This is a medium roast, whole bean coffee that has a smoothness right up the middle with a breadth of flavor notes. Distinct and delicate flavor notes with no bitterness. Fair trade traditional harvest, for a quality, unique cup of coffee.

WOW! The flavor is Fantastic!
My family LOVES coffee, and we enjoy trying new roasts, brands, blends, etc. I was curious about this coffee, because I'd never had Yemen coffee, and this did not disappoint. This is some of the best coffee I've ever tasted.I did some research on Yemen coffee (from this company's website and some other places online) and discovered that monks in Yemen were the first to cultivate and brew coffee. Also, it's apparently hard to come by and is expensive because of the ways it's grown, cultivated and dried - small family farms, special drying period, etc. Well, all of this definitely makes this coffee special. The flavor is rich and well rounded with absolutely no bitterness, whatsoever. The mocha flavor is delicious.I think the Haraaz Fair Value is my favorite flavor (perhaps is the medium/dark roast or maybe just region), but this Mocha-Haraazi is also amazing!I can't recommend this brand enough! (Running off to buy a larger bag right now!)

Very Good...
This is a small bag of coffee, but it is very good. It is packaged by a family in Yemen who are creating a good coffee for a fairly reasonable price. While the price tag sounds high, remember that this is family-owned and they haven't as yet been established.Saying that, the flavor is very good, being a whole bean medium roast coffee. I do prefer whole bean, as you can get the aroma while you grind the beans (a burr grinder is best). The aroma is pleasant, with a bit of a chocolate taste to it as well as a mild flavor. I would definitely purchase this coffee again.
