I purchased this for the lock feature... I don't like plugging in a flash (usb) drive into a device and have the device add crap to the drive. Now, only the device that I copied the files from (mainly windows), writes crap (system volume information), and once locked, I don't have to worry about plugging it into android or whatever system and have them add stuff that I'm not interested in getting).

I needed a thumb drive that physically write protect my thumb as I constantly have to use a common computer terminal for work. It tends to catch viruses and could easily enter my thumb and from there to my computer. I was able to use this thumb to write data with my home computer and later write protect it before using it on the common computer terminal. Had been using it for more than a month and it had not given me any problem so far. So am hoping this will continue to work in the long term.
