Legos are an excellent toy for kids!
Our 3 year old SON has spent HOURS playing with this train set! He builds it, takes it apart, and builds it again! The extra prices can be used to make a tunnel, a tree, or his favorite, a delivery! He stacks them up and puts the on the train car to be delivered! My little boy recently discovered Lego Duplo, and he loves this particular one better than all of the other Duplo toys! He loves looking at the pictures on the box and copying them, or making a super big train, and this has lots of sets of wheels, so its his fave. Very durable, bright colors, perfect! it's not only fun to play with but is educational as well and is child safe. I highly recommend this toy for a three year old who is a quick learner.

Great toy that will keep my two-year old nephew engaged for a long time!
When shopping for a christmas gift for my nephew, this caught my eye and I just had to grab one for him. This lego set is perfect for the age that puts everything in their mouths - not a choking hazard in sight. He is train obsessed and learning to count, so I was quite excited to give it to him. When he opened the gift Christmas morning, he gave the biggest smile and demanded it be opened right away. He played with the train set for what seemed like forever, and I feel like most toddler boys would love this toy. I trust the Lego brand and knew that the set would be good quality, but I was surprised by the value. There were so many pieces for him to play with and put together! He was also running the train along the carpeted floor very easily. This set was a great gift and I highly recommend it for active boys in particular.

Great Present for Children
I purchased this product for my two year old nephew's birthday, and it was a big hit. He loves trains and LEGOs, so this was the perfect combination. He can easily grab and put the blocks together, and there are no small parts that might be hazardous. The numbers are a great bonus for starting any child off to basic counting in a fun way. I rarely by actual LEGO products because they tend to run on the expensive side compared to similar product brands. But I felt this was a steal at $14.43 because it also doubles as and actual toy train and counting game. I could not find it cheaper anywhere else.

Train pieces are favorites for my Duplo fan
My 2 yo son has played with this set almost daily for a year now. The parts have been mixed in with the Duplo non-themed pieces that come in a storage box. We have built lots of different things during these parts, most notably, tractors, snow blowers, and construction vehicles. (The rounded piece that sits on top of each train car can easily be added underneath the train car to be a "cutting deck" like you find on garden tractors.) We've found endless possibilities to entertain my son who is into trains, trucks, and power equipment. Of course, it's also fun to be used as a train as shown in the picture on the box. A great value too!

Awesome Set, Except for One Minor Thing
My 2-year-old saw a video on YouTube that featured this item, for practice counting in English and Spanish. So I thought it would be a treat to get him the same toy. He loves trains, loves blocks, so this is almost a perfect match for him. The train cars latch together easily enough for 2-year-old fingers to accomplish, and yet don't fall apart too easily either. Duplo makes some really solid blocks that consistently stack well, stay together well, and yet come apart when it's time to disassemble and start over. It's all really good construction and most likely will hold up well for decades, just like the ones I had as a kid that are still lurking in my parents' basement somewhere. The one downside to this particular set is that although there are 10 numbered blocks, when the train is fully assembled, there are only 9 spaces on the cars. The illustration on the box shows the 10th block being used as part of a tower. But that's not how my toddler wants to do it. He can knows the numbered blocks are all the same, and therefore he wants them grouped together. That's pretty typical of toddler development and play. I wish the #10 block had been a wider block so it was clear that it's meant to be used differently than the others. Older kids probably don't have this hang-up, so it's probably not an issue for most families. But my little guy found it incredibly frustrating, and a frustrated toddler is not a person to mess with. So we put block #10 away for awhile. Crisis averted for now! But he does know it exists and asks about it from time to time. If you're getting this for a 2 or 3-year-old with perfectionistic tendencies, I recommend pulling that block out before handing it over to them.

Perfect gift for a toddler
We love this and have gifted this train multiple times. It's a great price point for a gift and I typically gift it to a 1 or 2 y.o. Great for working on numbers, colors and just playing and building.

Excellent toy and learning tool for little train-lovers.
My little guy loves Thomas and trains in general, but often falls under the age bracket for many of the train toys offered. Not only can my wee one safely entertain himself with this train, but with it he can learn numbers, colors, shapes, and hone his fine motor skills to boot! Instead of giving him the entire train at once, I've tried to really make the most out of its learning aspects, and give him one number block a week (with one or two of the unnumbered pieces) in order to let him become accustomed to one number at a time. I think the visual and tactile nature of the toy brings a higher level of intrigue to the learning process. (Besides, is it even possible to not love LEGOs?) :)

Lego ..... what is not to like
I bought this set for my nephew who is just about to turn 2 and he loved it. The pieces are big (no risk of choking) and given how high quality legos are and how solidly they are made, this set if probably good to play with for at least 10 years. If you want to get the little person in your life hooked on to legos early (just so that you have an excuse to buy that $350 iphone compatible Lego MindStorms set later ... ahem ... for the education and betterment of the apple of your eyes of course), this is a good set to start with.

My 1 year old is in love with it. Even thought recommended age is 1.5 years, I've checked all parts and can tell they all are too big for baby to choke on so I'm not concerned about safety. Love the bright colours and very nice quality. Oh well Lego is Lego :)
