I am looking for a replacement for a desk lamp (banker's style) and it says to use T type bulb. Will this work with two levels of light?

A description of "t-type bulb" is unfortunately ambiguous. There are at least two very different bulbs referred to as "T". So, you need to look carefully at your desk lamp where it holds the bulb and match it with the bulb you order. This bulb is referred to as a T2.5 or T3 bulb with R7S base. It has a metal contact on each end. The other not uncommon t-type bulb is a T10 with E26 base (aka medium base) just like a "standard" screw-in light bulb. I hope this helps.

4 5/8 inches. This bulb works well and matches the others in the vanity fixture.PS, For future reference, when you want to convert metric to imperial, simply go to Google and type "convert 118mm to inches" (or whatever distance you need) and it will provide the answer.

Are either the Satco or the Phillips lightbulbs 2-stage?

We have the Satco, but our lamp is like a the ultimate dimmer switch---variable, from zero all the way up, no gradations: One smooth, continuous sweep. So I have no idea how it would perform/ whether it would work in a lamp with 'stages'. Sorry.
