Q: How do the deluxe drives compare to the seymour duncan ssl3s?

Both are overwound. VERY overwound. So expect loss of highs. They'll be mid heavy, so be sure that you want that. The Fenders have Alnico 3 magnets, which are weaker than than the Alnico 5's in the Duncan pickups. Inductance, which is a relatively good gauge for output and also -loss- of top end, is very high for the Fenders. I'd expect the build quality to be much better on the Duncans, but the price reflects that. The Fenders are not made like the regular/older Fenders. These have plastic bobbins. BTW, Ignore the 'tone in your fingers' guy. Not a helpful comment, and most people who resort to that tired cliche don't have much clue about what you asked them.

The description above is in error. They are flat poles, much like 1986-2000 American Standard Strats, excepting that those pickups were alnico 5 magnets-these are alnico 3.

As far as I remember they slide right off. GREAT pickups by the way.
