Premium Shine, Classic Formula — The Gold Standard in Shoe Care
The Saphir Pate de Luxe wax is easily the best shoe polish I’ve ever used. The difference in quality is obvious the moment you open the tin as the scent alone hints at the craftsmanship behind it. A little goes a long way, and it spreads smoothly without clumping or streaking. After buffing, the shine is deep, mirror-like, and unmistakably refined which is exactly the kind of finish you see on well-kept luxury leather. It also helps nourish the leather instead of just coating it, which keeps shoes supple over time rather than dry or brittle. I’ve tried many brands before, but none deliver this balance of rich color, conditioning, and high-gloss finish. The black tint restores depth beautifully without over-darkening lighter leathers, and the formula feels old-world in the best way. It's pure, simple, and effective. If you care about preserving quality footwear, this is an essential. It’s not just polish. It’s craftsmanship in a tin. Excellent value for money and a great size.

very easy to get a basic shine with
[Betty's other half] I'm a longtime devoted Kiwi user dating back many decades to military use. But, while I like Kiwi and Kiwi Parade Gloss just fine, the brown color of the standard paste just wasn't getting me happy on my favorite 'not the finest leathers' brown brogues. I'm not a fan of creams at all so was looking for lighter paste alternatives to my favorite Kiwi brown. Right from the start of daubing on the Saphir the differences are pretty clear. This goes on much less dry and gummy than does Kiwi and you can see the Saphir condition the leather right away. One very light coat and a brush with the horsehair and it had a nice luster. A buff with nylons over then same coat and it came to an easy basic shine. I'll likely see what this does with a wet shine next on these same shoes even though I don't usually put a 'spit shine' on my brogues. This is now my 'go to' for medium brown that I don't want to darken or get too reddish. I'm interested in trying some other colors now. Note that this paste does have a different smell than Kiwi and Lincoln. I find it less turpentine but I suppose some folks might be bothered by the difference. It smells to me more of car wax than most others. Definitely worth the little extra cost if you're serious about shoe care if only for the ease with which it brings a basic shine. For those folks who can't get a shine up with this - first make sure you're trying to shine a smooth leather. No amount of polish is going to shine a rough or damaged finish. Also be sure you're clean and dry. Then apply a very light coat of polish (horsehair dauber is good) over the entire shoe and let it dry at least 15 minutes. The key here is to place a very light coat of polish evenly over the whole shoe. Brush it off lightly with a horsehair shoe brush. Then buff the shoes with a chamois cloth or a pair of nylons to a shine. Three coats should give you a bright shine. You'll have to wet polish for a mirror shine. Blocking the shoes with trees will make the process easier and help bring a better shine.

Very good shoe polish.
If you wonder why you can't find the shoe polish your dad used this polish is part of the reason why. The Saphir products are vastly superior. The Saphir products are a premium product, moderately priced, easy to use and your shoes and other leather products will look and feel better when you use Saphir leather products.

Polished and ready.
I wanted a simple polish, with fewer chemicals, in case any of it got near the rand on my hunting boots. Petroleum products can break down adhesives, so I wanted to take care of my $350 Meindls, without causing more harm than good. Perfect fix - great polish.

Best Shoe Polish Money Can Buy – Incredible Shine & Quality
Saphir Pâte de Luxe absolutely lives up to its reputation. This is hands down the best shoe polish I’ve ever used. The quality is immediately noticeable—from the smooth texture of the wax to how effortlessly it applies to the leather. It goes on evenly, absorbs beautifully, and brings shoes back to life with a deep, rich color. After buffing, the shine is stunning without looking overly glossy or artificial. With a little extra effort, it’s also excellent for achieving a mirror shine on dress shoes. I really appreciate that it conditions the leather while polishing, rather than drying it out like cheaper brands. A small amount goes a long way, so the tin will last quite a while even with regular use. It’s perfect for high-quality leather shoes, boots, and dress footwear you want to keep looking new. Yes, it’s more expensive than basic shoe polish—but the results are absolutely worth it. If you care about your shoes and want professional-level results at home, this is the polish to get. I won’t use anything else.
