I initially experienced some frustration trying to use these stones / plates. I was trying to sharpen a very cheap Harbor Freight plane iron to break in the plates and just couldn't get it to abrade on the coarse stone. As a last ditch effort, I sent an email to Best Sharpening Stones, the seller, and they got back to me the very same day. Even asked if I would send a phone number so they could call me. They also provided some details and information on sharpening that helped me out a ton. Really excellent customer service experience for me. I couldn't recommend them enough. Even if you're not going to buy these diamond plates, but some other sort of sharpening stone, I would definitely recommend you buy from this company.After I received a bit more instruction and a bit more information, the stones really started working much better. The issue was user error and knowledge based as opposed to product based. Mine were very flat and consistent out of the box. No issues with fit or finish there. Nice weight, decent little holder for the stones and they seem to work quite well. I'm no expert, but they're definitely a step up from the smaller composite DMT "stones" I had purchased before. I wish I'd just gone with these stones from Best Sharpening earlier. Live and learn.

I am new to any sharpening - I bought these for wood chisels so I can learn some basics with woodworking. After watching a lot of tutorials about sharpening chisels I settled on these as likely an adequate solution. Indeed they work well. I started by testing them out on an Irwin chisel that was in rough shape, had been dropped many times and used incorrectly (by me) many times. I was able to get it very straight and sharp. I have also used these to sharpen up a set of new Dewalt chisels as well as kitchen knives. I also bought the holder that goes with these and a leather strop paddle for finishing. The advantage of these stones is that they are a large size which makes working with them easy, also they are easy clean up with water. Keep them dry or they will rust. I would like to get a stone even more fine than the extra fine that comes with this set, but that will set me back quite a bit, and honestly, relative to my skills does not seem necessary at this point. I get by with these and a leather strop.

I love this product the UPS lost my first package but the owner gladly helped me out and even had the curtesy to reach out to me about the product. This item is really awesome, it sharpens your blades immediately. No time or money wasted, if anything it’s completely worth the investment to keep not only your knives sharp but tools and all sorts of metal that falls in the category of maintianing. This item comes with three stones and three different grits, and it works really good. At first it’s stiff and may scratch the coating or blade a bit but overall the blade ends up sharp enough to shave your arm and you won’t ever have to use a normal stone again. If your looking for something cheaper, just do what I did and save up your money and buy this and I swear this will really last you longer than any other one. Trust me you’ll love it. As soon as a picked up the box I was impressed. Super heavy,the holder is perfect. I have been in professional kitchens for over 40 years and this set of plates are the best I have ever used. Knifes are like razors in no time. I am sure they will last a lifetime. If your looking for the best...LOOK NO FURTHER

Nice product overall, especially considering the price. The two finer ones were dead-flat when checked on my surface plate. The coarse one was convex, begin low by .015 on one end and .018 on the other. Nice, thick steel (1/4 inch) and the supplied holder is effective. Also the heavy cardboard envelopes will be nice for storage. Very sharp as delivered. Time will tell how they hold up but with fairly light hobby use they should last a long time.

Good heavy duty plates. Cant say anything negative for the price. Pretty aggressive until broken in but now they sharpen very well .
