Quiet, compact, more convenient alternative to a full blender.
If you're in the market for a smoothie maker for morning smoothies, consider this as an alternative to other things like the Magic Bullet, or Vitamix. I'm the type of person who just wants the best of the best. I was looking at top of the line Vitamix, Kitchenaid and other full blenders, but eventually settled on this for a few reasons.PowerfulAt 350W this can blend through walnuts, frozen fruit and basically anything I throw at it. The only thing I haven't tried are ice cubes, but I don't doubt that it would be able to handle it.Easy to clean. All I do is detach the head and run under the faucet. Maybe use a bit of soap, but it's so much easier than a full blender.Compact.This fits in a drawer, and takes up very little space. I can pull it out and use it within 20 seconds.Affordable.Compared to other smoothie makers this is at most half the price!Quieter (much quieter!)I considered getting an actual blender, but I'm sensitive to noise. This thing is really quiet compared to a full blender or magic bullet. No mess!I can't believe how elegantly it blends things without any splatter. It's something you just have to witness to understand. I don't need a lid, or need to be careful to not get smoothie bits everywhere. The blending head is really really well engineered! Not to say this is an alternative to the more powerful full blenders for everything, but for MOST things, this hand blender will have you covered. Great job, Braun!

Powerful! Easy to Use
Wow! I was impressed. I was used to a Bamex hand blender, it never had the power this one does. I didn't use it that often but even so, the motor began slowing. This one is in sharp contrast, in a good way. I wish I could find more uses for it as it is so effective & easy to use. It is so powerful that my holding hand tingled when using it on high.A great feature is the way it's put together. The handle separates perfectly from the blending stem thus making it super easy to clean. One can put the stem in water, not fearing to get water in the motor, unlike the Bamex I had. So easy to put together, take apart for easy cleaning. This is well-thought out machine & I think it is a super great tool to have. This is a nice metal stem so you will be able to use it safely in any warm/hot mixtures you may have- no plastic to leach into anything.Recommend without reservation.Edit: It's now nearly 2023 and this wonderful tool is still going strong. I had previously purchased 2 Proctor Silex, they did not last but a few years. Quality is worth getting!

Amazing product, just don't use it in a crock pot with a crock pot liner....cuz reasons.
I tried to make smoked carrot bisque, like an a hole for a work potluck. Carrots don't smoke well, unless you can find those crazy big ones and then maybe. Also, if you want super smooth soup, buy a chinois, otherwise, be prepared to call the look of your soup,"rustic". Anyway, this thing in the soup pot, churned carrots into nothing in seconds flat. Incredible.Very comfortable grip, super easy to operate, plenty of power, amazing hand held immersion blender. So, I xfer the soup to a crock pot and put it on low over night for work the next day.In the morning I want to try and add more butter and cream cuz why not, so I add it in and put in the blender.Which catches the crock pot liner, pulls it taught and much like if you put a ball or small child in the middle of a blanket and have adults pull it tight, the soup, like the child or the ball go flying. IN this instance all over me and my kitchen...pretty much Kevin's chili if you watched The Office.Anyway, my knuckleheadedness aside, great product.Only negative is it doesn't come with a storage bag, which is kind of a PITA. I had to buy a bag but cmon, how much is a bag vs the added appreciation value? But, ultimately that's a nitpick.

Very Happy So Far
I have experience with a KitchenAide version of a immersion blender very similar to this Braun. So far they are pretty much equal in quality and functionality.I bought this Braun to make fruit smoothies, and have used it just twice so far.... so small sample size. Early impressions are: the 2-speed motor is plenty strong enough; the device and jar are easy to clean; seems pretty ruggedly built; fits well in my hand during use - the motor buttons are easy to reach and operate; the blender shaft release buttons are easy to reach and manipulate; the cord is an appropriate length for use on a kitchen counter; haven't used the whisk attachment. The mixing jar included in the set is the weakest element here. The volume scale etched/printed on the side is so feint as to be almost impossible to see it. Nearly invisible! (minus 1 star) I'm considering adding some marks / numbers with a permanent marker for easier reference. The KitchenAide version I've used has slots in the sides of the cutter-head's bell shaped housing which allow for flow around and through the housing causing a nice whirlpool like action in the liquid etc you are blending; creating a strong top-to-bottom mixing action. This Braun does not have those slots, and it does not seem to produce that top-to-bottom mixing action. But I dunk and lift the blender up down and around while blending anyway. I'm no cook, so I don't know if that sort of mixing action produce by the KA version is important to the outcome or not, or just looks cool. What I can say for certain is that using this Braun the fruit gets totally chopped/liquefied and thoroughly blended and the smoothies so far have been delicious!I'd buy this again if needed and I recommend enthusiastically. Happy Blending!!

Excellent
An excellent hand blender. It replaced an old hand blender that gave up the ghost, and it's way more powerful than the old one.
