Weller WLACCHHM-02 Helping Hands with 4 Movable and Adjustable Magnetic Arms for Multiple Configurations

You would expect a Weller product to be thoughtfully designed, but this is not the case here. Two major issues with this product, make it unfit for purpose: 1. The magnets are positioned 1+ mm away from the base plate, resulting into a very weak magnetic bonding with the base plate. It appears as if the gap was left intentionally to protect the magnets (from getting shuttered accidentally) and allow for a self-adhesive felt or rubber piece to be attached, to absorb any shock and noise caused when you attach the helping hands to the metallic base plate. However, no such rubber or felt stickers were included in the packaging. As a matter of fact, the magnetic bonding is so weak that there is no need! 2. The helping hands are fairly rigid and strong. This is a good thing. but they are too long for the small size of the base plate. I struggled to put them into the right position and that would leave only 5 cm of working space, i.e. only to fit a tiny PCB. If you take away two helping hands, you have more working space but, then, why pay much more for 4 helping hands if you can only use 2 of them? If you already have a large, thick base plate, these helping hands will be more useful. Overall, I cannot recommend this item. Weak magnetic bonding and too small base plate make it unfit for purpose.

As a user of weller products for year all I can say is I’m disappointed with this one. The base is so smooth and the magnets so weak that one little nudge and everything slides all over like a hockey puck on an ice rink . The bendy arm are near impossible to bend in to the shape / angle you want and as soon as you let go they just about spring back to where they started . Even if you can get your work clipped in a position you like the arms are under so much tension it either bends the work or the magnet lifts . I tried using just 2 arms which although the clips and arms are easier to set your work up 2 magnets won’t hold anything . If you touch it with your finger tip the magnets just come off . So I’m sorry weller it’s a great looking bit of kit but the magnets are the biggest downfall they are just not strong enough and the whole product is not up to your normal standards

The base is heavy and solid and heavy which is great and the clips quality is excellent but the magnets are too weak making the arms easy to fall and hard to manipulate

Terrible product, magnets couldent hold a one pence coin. Awfully dissatisfied with this product. WELLER DO BETTER!!!!

It has a strong grip, as you'd imagine. Don't use it for anything delicate unless you have some sort of protective layer.

good third hand for soldering but a bit stiff for smaller parts, works as intended

Este soporte de la marca Weller es increíble, ya que sus soportes magnéticos se adhieren a la placa de metal. Es fácil de usar y tiene buena rigidez para ajustarlo al gusto al momento de poner placas PCB, leds o otros componentes que quieran soldar. Cabe mencionar que es de gran tamaño, ideal para estudiantes de ingeniería en relación con la electrónica. En conclusión, excelente producto y valdrá la inversión para esta compra.
