Q: Can I use essential oils with it?

If they are pure essential oils, do not add them. Over time they will eat through the plastic. It's the same reason oils are only kept in glass bottles and if you add them to a drink it needs to be in a stainless steel bottle. They are too potent for synthetic material.

Q: Where does the steam come out on the hippo humidifier?

The ears. The ears have slots on them and the steam comes from there.

Q: Is the water level visible on the owl?

HI Angela, You can see the water and how much is there, You just look at it and you can see where the water level is, At night , you would have to put a light on, to look at it, I am not sure you know this, But if if there is no water left, it shuts off by itself, you will see the red light... Need to fill it up again.... I hope this helps you..Zina

Q: I cant get rid of a ring of mold forming along the rim of the top were you add water. Any tips?.

Try a mix of bleach & water 50/50. Doesn't have to be alot. Don't use anything abrasive use soft cloth. Also when using humidifier only use distilled water not tap water! That seems to work best for me.
