Learn to Paper Piece: A Visual Guide to Piecing with Precision

I’ve read tutorials, patterns, other books and watched videos and although great in their own right this is the first book that answered all my questions. Clearly written instructions, tips and tricks with great visuals to back it all up. My problems were with size of the pieces and how to properly angle then piece then stitch so it covers the space. It all became clear in first pages. It’s not a long book with too much information. It has just enough and will teach you to look at patterns in a different way for alternate patterns using fabric or block placement. I wish all foundation paper piece pattern writers would read this gem before designing.

This is an excellent book for quilters wanting to try paper piecing. The first 12 pages include everything that happens before you actually try to sew a paper piecing pattern. This includes how to work with patterns, directional prints, how to precut fabric and a whole page of paper piecing pointers. Then there's a section on how to actually perform paper piecing. And lastly there are 5 different quilt patters with excellent instructions. The book is in color and the instructions are extremely clear to a beginner. I' found several other books with info on how to sew using the paper piecing technique, but nothing with the full set of info like this book. I would highly recommend this book!

A beginning quilter, who bought the book, learned to paper piece in no time and gives total credit to Nancy's clear instructions and photos. The book is wonderfully produced by Martingale. This is THE best technique book on paper piecing I have seen in the 40+ years I've been quilting.

I purchased this when I was teaching a FPP class and recommended it to my students as a great book to learn to FPP. Several have purchased it. The direction are excellent for a beginner and the patterns are gorgeous.

It really helped to understand paper piecing. This is a new way to quilt for me. It is informative and easy to learn. It took the mystery out of Paper Piecing.

There's nothing wrong with the book, just that someone who has never done foundation piecing might surmise that the process was easy! It's not! Accuracy is most important with this process....even 1/16 of an inch can throw off the correct look.

I think I can do this now! Clear instructions, helpful hints. Highly recommend!
