Understanding Distributed Systems: What every developer should know about large distributed applications

A great book. Really made a good connection between the theoretical aspects required for distributed networking and the ability to implement practical solutions. Took some of the ideas and went back in to work to try and figure why we had chosen one direction over another. In some cases, we were able to make a better move just because we hadn't discussed any alternatives. This is a keeper for my shelf.

This book covers most of the key topics of distributed system design, combining a solid theoretical foundation with a lot of detailed examples. After reading this, you will have a good understanding of all the potential challenges that could occur in a scaled distributed system and, most importantly, you will learn the industry best practices in use to address them.

Not too big unlike other books. Concise. Just right amount of details for revision.

it's not really a great book, neither it has a depth of details nor does it covers properly all topics at high level.

This feels like a short story book for children. Doesn't go deep dive into any aspect and just randomly picks topics and skims through it. I am not sure how this can be used for any design interview.

There are pages that aren’t even attached to the spine of the book!
