SAMSON Q9U XLR/USB Vocal Dynamic Broadcast Microphone

This mic is capable of 96kHz, 24 bits - which can be verified from the windows 10 Sound > Microphone Properties. But on Windows 10 it uses the default USB driver that is limited to a maximum of DirectX 16 bit (s16le), 44kHz CD quality output. You will need a good DAW/ASIO software to extract 96khz samples. Mic is heavy. I tested the built-in USB interface - found good. The USB interface needs the vocal boost switch (on the back of this mic) to be flipped ON - otherwise the audio is dull. Please note that studio quality (crisp quality) audio is possible ONLY if you can extract 96 khz samples - which is difficult on Windows 10 with the built-in plug and play USB drivers. This mic performs MUCH better with XLR input - you get the dream studio quality output But it comes at an additional cost. You will possibly need to use focusrite (or equivalent) for 96kHz samples. You will also need a dbx 286 (or equivalent) audio processor to compensate for the dull audio. But dbx286 has its own "hiss" problems. So you will have to take some risk when buying all these hardware. They work for some users, but do not for others. In my case I have a Windows 10 PC, and I use XLR + (an old) microphone pre-amp [clean audio gain +46-60 dB] + a DIY presence control circuit [compensates the vocal boost] + creative soundcard [samples at 96 kHz]. The results are excellent.

The sound is extremely better than the microphone above this range. It's a heavy mic so buying stand for this mic is a must.

I ordered this staring December, I got the product a week late. It was defective - didn't work at all - no sound detected. I placed a replacement order. A week later they took my product and replaced it with a Samson 4-Channel Amplifier. Now I'm filing a return for this. Once it's returned - I'll probably go for another brand's mic, since Samson can't deliver a damn mic that works apparently. Will share an update on this...
