Excellent performance at a bargain price!
These are a great pair of binoculars! I’d been having trouble finding much in the way of reviews of these. So I felt like I was taking a bit of chance buying them. I’m very glad I took the chance. After doing as much research as I could pre-purchase I concluded that these Athlon Midas binoculars were the equivalent, at least on paper, of other considerably more expensive binoculars such as Vortex Viper HDs. I also concluded that even though these Athlon Midas’ are listed as the number three tier binocular in Athlon’s lineup (Athlon Cronus is the top tier followed by Athlon Ares) that in every way that really mattered to me (BAK4 roof prisms, phase shift corrected, ED glass) these Athlon Midas’ would provide the same practical performance as the more expensive top tier Athlon Cronus. All of this and finding a pair of Athlon Midas binoculars at the bargain price of $225, along with just a couple of favorable reviews, and noting the lifetime warranty, encouraged me to take the leap. Once in hand the Athlon Midas’ binoculars appear to be very well built and rugged. I checked for common binocular issues, such as collimation, and found no problems. I did some experimenting looking at trees and house roofs down the street from me on a snowy day both at midday and later as dusk set in. I could not detect the presence of any chromatic abberation (which I would expect to show up when there is snow as part of the image). So all good there. I only have a rather cheap pair of binoculars to compare these too, but the difference with the Athlon Midas binoculars is striking. They are very bright and clear. The resolution of the image is very sharp. Color reproduction seems excellent. No evidence of the contrast washing out as happens with cheaper binoculars. All in all these binoculars seem to be a spectacular bargain. Athlon seems to be an up and coming company in the optics world. They make rifle scopes, spotting scopes, and rangefinders in addition to binoculars. Given my excellent experience with these Athlon Midas binoculars so far, I’ll be looking at Athlon real hard for future optics purchases.

wonderful Binocs
Great binoculars. Well made, easy to use, clear opticals. And the lifetime warranty is definitely a plus. I only wish they were lighter in weight.

Exceptional binoculars for the price
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered these binoculars. Reviews from multiple sites were all good and that’s what persuaded me to make my selection. I have always been critical when it comes to optics and good quality comes at a substantial price. Upon opening the box, I was pleased to see that they were solidly built and had no play or slop in any of their adjustments. Light transmission is very good, focus is sharp with very good image quality all the way out to the edges. Colors are distinct and contrast is sharp. Overall I would have expected to pay somewhere in the range of five hundred dollars to match the optical quality these binoculars deliver. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for a quality pair of 10x42 binoculars without breaking the bank!

Excellent binoculars for a good price
Love these although beginning birders may go for slightly less magnification to more easily find their targets. Superior product for a reasonable price!

I’m Not a Binocular Expert, But I Know What ‘Wow’ Looks Like
I don’t know a lot about binoculars. I can’t speak intelligently about coatings, prisms, or whatever wizardry goes into them. What I do know is when something looks really good and these do. The colors are vibrant, the images are clear and bright, and everything just snaps into focus the way you want it to. They’re also a perfect size to carry around, substantial enough to feel solid, but not bulky or annoying on a trip. Most of their time is spent watching my bird feeder (the birds, not the neighbors - let’s be clear), and they’ve also been on a recent trip where they performed just as well. They replaced an older pair of Nikons that were actually smaller, but these are more comfortable to use and noticeably better to look through. If you want binoculars that are easy to carry, easy to use, and make everything look better without needing a degree in optics, these fit the bill perfectly.

Came recommended by the New York Times and they are worth their weight. My 10x42s are much much better quality than the previous Miranda 10x50s and are smaller and lighter as well. Worth the money !

The 8x42 were excellent, however after receiving two pairs of 10x42 both with defective focus knobs I gave up and returned them.
