No, it can't be folded flat. Once you've assembled it, that's it: a rolling platform with a telescoping handle on one of the long edges, in a permanent L shape. So if you're thinking as a carry-on bag, the only way that will work is if you can put it in the overhead bin, because it won't fit under an airplane seat. And even then, I wouldn't be too sure about it. It would probably only fit in the bin of a big jet (if that), certainly not the overheads on smaller jets or puddle-jumpers.

Q: Is this large rolling backpack suitable for father's day？

it is very large and can put tons of stuff in it but tips over the base isn't big enough for the bag

You can wear it comfortably with the handle and bass on.

Q: How much weight can it carry?

At least thirty pounds perhaps as much as fifty. It has a very sturdy base - I font think you’d want to carry fifty but it sure roll fifty with 4 - 360 degree heavy duty wheels. My hubby has 2 large laptops 2 tablets and two rechargeable head phones and all the charging cords etc for all of them!! And more!! And he takes it in the plane with him.
