RED HEART Classic Yarn, Black

Not John Deere Green. Not an extinct green that I have no idea what the original name was. The swatch shown on my monitor is not close to the color but it's not a light green and it's not a dark green. It has a little different twist and appearance than Super Saver. I purchased this to match part of a very old skein of Super Saver that doesn't have the band and this isn't it. Overall though Red Heart Yarn is the one I've used for most of my projects of the last 40 odd years. It has rebounded from that fiasco of the one supplier folding doors and the replacement and some of the icky dye feelings. Classic though seems to be a little thinner and a different twist than Super Saver. I still gave it five stars because it's a good yarn and I will use it for a project. Not their fault it didn't get close to a yarn made in probably the 70's or 80's.

Love Red Heart yarn. Soft, easy to crochet, good value for the money. After washing and drying the afghan is so soft and looks great.

True, it's a classic. It matches perfectly with an older skein I ran out of, helping me to finish crocheting a rug.

The color was so much more beautiful than I expected. It was necessary to go with the other colors I was using for my project. It will really make it shine. Packaging was good. Wrapped well, so no dust or smell from box. Arrived very quickly. I have loved and used Red Heart Yarn for 63 years, but the first time I ordered it without seeing and feeling it. I was a bit nervous about that, but it was a very good experience. I will do it again.

Red Heart Classic or Super Saver is a great choice for people who are just starting to knit or crochet; you get a huge amount for a relatively low price, and while it's not as soft as higher-quality yarn, the colors are bright and especially the color-changing yarn hides mistakes and holds interest for longer projects. There aren't lots, which means you can buy several skeins without worrying about them matching or not; the roughness of the yarn does mean that it has a tendency to stick to the needle instead of sliding, so people who have very tight stitches might struggle a bit more with this yarn than with some silkier types. It's pretty scratchy and cheap, so I wouldn't recommend using it for anything you'd wear directly against your skin. But it's a good weight for shawls and blankets, and especially if you wash it a few times after knitting/crocheting its fibers stick together in such a way that somewhat obscures the pattern, but results in a thick, heavier blanket that's really comfortable and cozy.

I am very happy with the yarn I received. It came in a box in a plastic bag, I ordered two. They are a little small but that is to be expected with this kind of yarn. At first it was not the color I thought it was as I was trying to match it with a yarn I already had. As it turns out, I like this color much more! It is better suited to the project I am making. I highly recommend buying from Coats and Clark. I will definitely be buying from them again, thank you!

I didn’t have any issues with knots or anything while using this yarn. The yarn isnot super soft but if you wash it, it’ll soften up.

It is soft, perfect shade of blue, great for wrapping word wall craft. It made the word bright and cheerful. I would definitely buy this or another color again.

Fantastic for the price! I've made a couple scarves with really big needles, they knit up fast and have been worn for over a season with little to no pilling or noticeable wear. I can see this yarn making a good grocery bag or other durable item. Not super soft, maybe not blanket quality. The Gemstone colours are much more vibrant than pictured.
