Look at the picture! That's what it is!
I have no idea why people are giving it any bad reviews. If it buzzes, send it back for a replacement! I just redid my kitchen in retro pastels, opting for red color "pops" of red. Tired of my cordless phones, most of which don't work, I decided that the little bit of time I spend using a land-line certainly did not warrant 8 cordless extensions. So I tossed them all out for this one wall phone. I say "old" with a shiver, as I grew up with rotary wall phones like this.Someone complained below that the phone was "tethered" to the hand set. Um....Do you understand the concept of a wall telephone? This phone is just as I remember them being (expect for a rotary dial which would be completely impractical). It is solid, and the handset is a bit heavy when compared to current smart phones. That's how these phones were!It sets off my retro kitchen well. It invites countless unsolicited compliments. And everyone picks up the receiver to listen. Kind of funny. Great phone. Great vocal quality. Good ring (adjustable). Be aware that the handset cord is hard wired so you can't exchange the cord for a longer one. It clearly says that in the ad but, again, some people who complained obviously didn't realize it.

Pretty and functional cover-up for that wall plate in the kitchen
Like many who live in older homes, I have an old AT&T wall plate in the kitchen that's not near an electrical outlet. The only way to cover it is with a corded phone. I got tired of the old, beige early 90's thing I had hanging there and searched for something cool that fit my decor, without being overly cutesy. The red phone is actually a nice dark cranberry color (my father tells me the color was all the rage circa 1959) and it provides a pretty punch of color to the wall. Unlike some reviewers, the sound on mine is perfectly clear, the bell tone (set it to low) sounds just like the rings of old, and while not quite as heavy as the phones I remember from childhood, it's a pretty solid piece. It's truly retro in that there are no frills (aside from redial and flash) such as backlighting or caller ID, but my modern living room phone's ring tones tell me who is calling. As far as function goes, this phone is for answering when I'm in the kitchen and calling the electric company when the power goes out. But it's very pretty, well priced, and sure to be a conversation piece.*Beware: Ignore the accessories Amazon associates with this. You cannot replace the cord with a longer one. It's molded to the phone.

I love it!
I bought this used since I wanted this phone for aesthetic purposes— not to actually use as a functioning telephone. I had a plain wall by my kitchen where a telephone SHOULD be and I figured I’d get a cute one. I love it! The quality isn’t fantastic. It’s a plastic phone, not those good quality ones from back in the day but the color looks great and I can’t complain since I’m using it for decoration purposes.

Great phone, even better customer support.
First of all: love the phone. The color is deep and rich and goes perfectly with my red-and-white midcentury kitchen. The solid heft of the receiver is pleasing and the sound of callers' voices is loud and clear. As other reviewers have noted, you cannot replace the receiver cord, which is permanently affixed to the receiver, so ignore Amazon's recommended extension cords. For me the cord length is sufficient, but if you like to walk from room to room you won't be able to with this phone. If you're worried that this is a modern knockoff with cheaper construction than a true vintage phone, that may be true. But you can buy with confidence because if something goes wrong, Crosley will go out of their way to make it right. Shortly after purchase (but too late to exchange at Amazon), my receiver cord developed a problem. I contacted Crosley through their website and they immediately shipped out a replacement receiver and cord, no questions asked. A customer service rep got in touch with me personally to verify my shipping address and make sure the replacement worked. I've rarely experience that level of customer service from a manufacturer -- it was a surprise and a pleasure.

Great Quality Phone/ do NOT buy 25' red cord
Great phone! The quality is superior to many others i have reviewed. i put the phone in my kitchen on the wall, and its a conversation piece. the ringer is great, i have tone dialing ( or pulse if preferreed), redial, and flash for call waiting. the incoming and outgoing calls,- the voice clarity is very clear. also this phone great for when the power/electricity goes out, as it will still work, cordless phones wont. i have call waiting, and there is no visual call waiting window, but nor did i expect there to be one, having the flash is helpful enough. One drawback...the 25ft' CORD THAT IS SHOWN WITH THE PHONE IS NOT COMPATABLE WITH THE CROSLEY PHONE!...i cannot buy a 25' cord even thru the crosley company. soooo, just beware of the 25'cord...VERY misleading.i was going to send phone back and get the phone that goes with the cord, but THAT phone is of poor qaulity and had numerous negative feedbacks.OVERALL I LOVE IT, JUST WANTED THE 25' CORD.LOVE IT, I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

It reminds me of when I was a kid
The phone generally feels like it should. It’s lighter than the originals I think but still a good weight to hold between shoulder and neck. Gen-Xers will know what I’m talking about!! I love it.
