Q: So you adhere it to the plastic sheathing and then cut the sheathing on the other side of the zipper before hanging?

That is correct. We recommend opening the zipper and cutting the plastic sheeting behind the zipper on both sides vs the middle. Be careful not to cut the zipper. This will allow the material to not get bound in the zipper.

Q: Does this product allow light to leak through?

There are very minute amounts of pinhole light where the zipper teeth link. This pinhole light could be negated with the proper location of a poly flap behind the zipper.

Q: Can this be cut to desired length.

If your siccors can cut the metal yes you can but if you go all the way down to the spot you cut, the zipper part will come off.
