Solid Space Sci-Fi Thriller
Pacing, flow, and timing of plot twists is excellent. Quick read, hard to set it down once you start. A SUPERB gateway book to introduce young adults to science fiction..nevertheless, this old codger thoroughly enjoyed "Colony One Mars"!

good sci fi read
I enjoyed the story, but it is fiction so there are many questions left unanswered. I think I will move on to the second book

interesting story
It’s been 40 yrs since I’ve read any science fiction. When Issac A., Arthur C. And several others quit writing, I quit reading.Moved into History, Philosophy, and Religion. This Was a pretty good read. Talked some of the conflicts man brought. How man’s greed basically tried to ruin a perfectly good dead planet, and in the end… well, you’ll just have to read the book. I Will have to read the next in the series, then see… if I want to go forward or move on. It was a fluke I even read this one. Glad I did…

Good once I got past the distracting plot devices
SPOILERS:Agreed that it’s fast paced and engaging, but it took about 1/3-1/2 to get there, which I almost didn’t. I was actively turned off by the obvious disdain for the protagonist from the mission commander. While I appreciate she was a late substitution, the blatant lack of confidence and disdain from the commander for having been stuck with her struck me as an obvious plot device to build tension. While it’s not the first mission to mars by humanity, sticking a last minute substitute onto a crew for which the commander lacked confidence was off-putting and distracting. If he didn’t think she could cut it she shouldn’t have been there. And humanity is not so far along, and this was a government mission not commercial, that such a blow to unit cohesion would have been acceptable. Especially given the stressful situation they were heading to investigate. So, it’s not like this was a future where this is mundane and corporate run (Alien/s) and so everyone just needs to suck it up and deal.In any case, glad I pushed through as the back half of the book was much more engaging without the distracting tension devices.

I liked it, a plus that a part 2 is a touch screen away
I found this very interesting and a bit different from my usual Mars reading. There’s a little robot with the project, just as much a character in the story. The book held my interest and I hope discovery for the characters and me as a reader. Can’t really say much, to ruin it for future readers. Enjoy!

Fast-paced, suspenseful
Not your typical sci-fi with humans battling aliens. The science is understandable to a non-scientist. The characters well drawn. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!
